Just a discovery I made today that some of you may or may not have considered. So I do the whole alcohol thing with my tank heads in order to lengthen their lives, but as always the time comes when the wick inside them is no good anymore. You probably think that I'm going into how to replace the cotton inside heads, but I am not. The coils inside likely have plenty of life left in them, so today I gingerly dragged the coil out of one of my Ijust 2 heads (similar to atlantis) and installed it as a vertical build on my RDA. Actually, I put two coils on there but ended up removing one because the resistance read too low. It works great!

TL;DR- Remove the coils from your spent subohm tank heads and put them on your RDAs.

Just thought this was a great tip for any of you who hate throwing things out.

If someone can do all that I would suggest they ditch premade Chinese coils and just use rebuildable's.
That's exactly what I did. Before I got my first RDA I had an Ijust 2 subohm tank and made the mistake of getting some cheap clone heads on fasttech. The heads didn't even work so I got a refund and used that money for a 10$ RDA. I still have some unusable heads left so I decided to recycle the coils inside them and it works.

It would depend on a few things, including the type of disposable head and how much undamaged "leg" is left. But I still can't see it, sorry.

My ummm... frugality, is mainly based on laziness. :p

If I can rebuild the head, I'll rebuild the head.
Decks, drippers and RTAs... I'll roll my own coil.
I'm not gonna concern myself over three cents worth of wire. :D

LOL, wire is so ridiculously cheap which makes me wonder, why do you even want to do that? reusing the shell as an RBA is understandable, but using spent wire from disposable heads in an RDA is not!

I'm waiting on my old toaster to go belly up. It's gonna be a gold mine I tell ya.

Sadly... I no longer have an excuse to own a hair dryer as well. :(

That's a good tip to know, fuck the nasty naysayers.

I've had to "make do" many many times in my life whether I was poor at the time or simply didn't have something I needed like I was out in the boonies or something. So, while maybe not practical for most, it is nonetheless a good tip.

Thanks for sharing.

Another invaluable source of wire, once you are done rubbing and scrubbing don't throw it away, one of these can be broken down into a thousand coils :bliss:

I hear ya there man! I never thought of reusing those guys. I have plenty at home and I'm going to try it out as soon as I get home from work. Because right now, I AM pretty fucking poor. Well kinda. haha But its a good idea.

And fuck the people that can't read. "Making do" because you have to isn't the same as 'being a cheap ass' because you don't like to throw garbage away.
