Things are about to get bloody in Woodsboro again. Scream, the newest entry in the long-running slasher franchise, opens in theaters on January 14, 2022, and IGN has your exclusive first look at the final poster for the Paramount-Spyglass release.
Scream brings back several beloved legacy characters while also introducing all-new protagonists – any one of whom could be unmasked as the latest incarnation of the murderous Ghostface. To hammer home that point, and in true tongue-in-cheek Scream fashion, the tagline on the new poster promises “the killer is on this poster.”

The cast includes Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette – reprising their respective iconic roles as Sidney Prescott, Gale Weathers, and Dewey Riley – who are joined by franchise newcomers Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Marley Shelton, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Sonia Ammar.
Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt & Guy Busick (based on characters created by Kevin Williamson), 2022’s Scream takes place twenty-five years after the first Ghostface murders shocked Woodsboro. A new killer has now emerged to don the Ghostface mask, target unlucky teens, and expose secrets from the California town’s bloody past.
Today’s poster launch also kicks off #12ScreamsForTheHolidays, a hashtag that allows audiences to follow along with the @ScreamMovies social channels for daily updates and fun Scream content.
