The Screen Actors Guild announced their nominations today for the 22nd annual SAG Awards and two major ensemble-driven films were particularly notable in being completely shut out of the race: The Martian and The Hateful Eight.
While the snub of Tarantino's Hateful Eight could be chalked up to the film simply not being shown to SAG voters in time, The Martian's snub is more curious. David O. Russell's ensemble film Joy was also shut out.
The Bryan Cranston-led Trumbo dominated the motion picture nominations, with noms going to Cranston as lead actor, Helen Mirren (best supporting actress), and best cast. Sarah Silverman is widely seen as a surprise nominee in the best actress category for her dramatic turn in I Smile Back.
