Spoilers for "The Lady" within.
Silicon Valley’s latest, “The Lady,” took great strides to freshening up the cast of the show by addressing one of its primary criticisms – the fact that it’s a total sausage fest.
This season’s fourth episode added a new employee to Pied Piper, the gruff and brilliant Carla (Alice Wetterlund) all while offering an episode-long joke about gender politics in the work place. Jared’s (or, I should say, O.J.’s) well-meaning but awkward demeanor was particularly amusing in this context as he struggled to say the right things but only dug a deeper hole for himself (“I loved The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.”).
Adding yet another name change (his real name is Donald) to his character is reminiscent of the Jerry/Garry/Barry/Larry gimmick over on Parks and Recreation, but it remains funny nonetheless. After all, as Jared O.J. recounts, a name is just a sound somebody makes when they need you.
