ok so a month or so ago i picke dup a xhom v3 dimebox with PWM. Have to say thi sis the greatest mod I have ever own. I see all these other mods with proprietary boards like IPV, Kanger, wismec, lasimo etc and think to myself...NOPE.
I mean i have a d2 that is about 18 months old, but when the board gives out or a button, then its pretty much done, cant get it repaired, and since you can pick up a d3 for like 30-40 it aint worth the labor.

but this mod seems damn durable...the box itself is strong. from all my research PWM chips should last a few decades. the button, led, switch or 510 are all inexpensive parts ($5 or less). this is fairly user servicable if need be.

sure theres no TC an dit dont have an ohm meter built in - but i dont need all that

so for thos unfamiliar iwth this particular mod heres a link
https://www.xohmuniverse.com/products/marble-hammertone-xohm-v3?variant=10716438273

now i paid no where close to $150 for mine and feel I got one hell of a deal

but im looking for more mods like this

well built and simple, user servicable, using PWM chipsets, sturdy, etc etc

in doing some research I read about modders doing this and that, but can't seem to find a place to connect with these people, to find out about who builds what, to find out websites etc etc.

does anyone know of a website,FB group whatever that is more about these type of mods. Most of the stuff here on VU is centered around the standard IPV,wisemes,kanger,DNA..etc brands which all have proprietary chipsets - anmd tahts fine - i started on all this stuff, just looking for other options and ideas. Because for where I am at teh moment I like these PWM boards, but want to see what else people are doing with them and different price points.

TIA for any help

Hey Matt there are several FB sites that talk about there types of PWM boards like Big AL's or Smart PWM group. I recently found a post using a simple 555 pwm board and ordered some from fasttech that should arrive this week. I had planned on making a few to put in some of the wood mods I make including the same type of pot and a meter as the dime box. Not sure if my mods are your cup of tea. (I could add a dime or a penny as decoration if you liked)

I gotta be honest here campers, PWM while it it is great for some mods, it sucks in others. I love the OKI T20 chip, straight DC to DC conversion, then you have the DNA 133 and 200 series. Very, very fast PWM, but not really noticeable unless you use a very sensitive digital scope. More or less, DC-DC conversion.

My favorite mod is a Hexohm v2. 110 watts, no PWM.

I can see where your coming from along with the OKR boards the OKL creates a great vape. But these were inexpensive enough that I could afford to experiment with them and if a FAIL it would be no great loss.

i have never used an okl board, so have no idea if i would like that better.
dna boards have no interest to me, they do way too much i just want to set how much power goes to my coil period and its nice to know how much juicemy batteries have left

I do know i like PWM and have had NO ISSUE.

@Sonar505 i have seen bigals FB but never see mods for sale, just parts. AND while part of me would love to build a mod, sometimes i prefer to trust someone more experienced then me. i sent a join request for the smart pwm mod group so thanks.
ANyone got more?

Matt, an OKL board is straight DC-DC. No pwm. If you can, try a Hexohm v2. Seriously, you will be changed. Give it a shot.

see ive read MOST people cant telll the difference. but i do want to try one (okl board) if i could find a hexohm v2 at a price point I could afford atm I would get it. Ive heard nothing but great things about them and i would expect those mods to last years and years if taken care of.

ANd honestly I am looking for longevity and repairability. Dont get me worng
i love my d2,3li and ipv 5 but if any of them last more then 2 years of use, Ill be surprised
and I am a button guy- by that i mean -if htere are buttons i need ot push them and play with them. but all i do is vape in power mode at 50ish watts so i feel i have all these options on my ipv mods that i dont need and it annoys me.admittedly for no reason. its not like the tc modes and all and memory slots actually cost me more money

but i do feel the xohm i bought, if taken care of...should last me forever. I might have to replace a switch, or the button in 5 -10 years, but thats an easy thing and very low cost. and if teh board fails, once again another low cost fix.

when i drop this mod, i worry a whole lot less then when i drop my 3li. the enclosure is just pure sturdy metal. I just feel its stronger then any of the ipv mods i have.

Since ive gotten this mod, ive just wanted to see what else is out there like it
