Whats the reason for higher end tube mods costing so much money? And is it worth it to pay $100+ dollars for a tube mod? Like is the performance leaps n bounds better than something like a SMPL mod?

IMHO, I don't think so. I have a 26650 mod with a "name", and a price tag, that's being out performed by a 26650 Stingray clone. Most of my other single 18650 mods are clones, with 4 exceptions. Three of the exceptions were just cheaper, but original. The other I bought used.

Authentic "Epic design studios" SMPL performs same as "Infinite" smpl clone. With a time and lots of use, spring on infinite will get weak, not so on "Epic". Infinite is still well worth the money since Epic is $130.00 compared to $27.00.
I've seen bad clones, and bad authentics. Authentic XXIX can be had for $60.00 and it is a great tube so why spend 35$ on a clone.
It all depends.
If you are spending $100+ on a mech mod look into series boxes, those provide more power and you have more opinions with different coils. Imo these are only mech mode that can compete with todays 200Watt + regulated mods but more compact. Shockingly small I would say. Something like Noisy Cricket, Anubis, VCM Piglet(VCP), or MCM Underground. Cricket being around $15, and MCM Underground around $140.

IMO simply put with actual higher end devices (devices determined by the community to have higher performance). Your paying for the time spent making the item, and the ability of the maker, especially in the case of mechanical devices. The conductivity of the material is important which is why many makers put out SS, Brass, copper ect. at varying prices, but OVERALL price is determined by man hours I think, the more time that goes into an individual mod the less they can create and the more demand will rise as well as price. The "devices determined by the community to be worth it" is an extremely important factor in an actual purchase IMO. A maker can charge whatever they wish for ill functioning garbage.

So........the answer to the question would be a gray area. Depending on the mod and the maker. I was wondering the same thing. I got a Noisy Cricket and love it. Was wondering if a higher end mod would be smoother. Seems I have to hit the button just right or I get air hit

I just got a NC last week myself.. I had no problems until yesterday when i got a few "air hits" from what ive researched the NC takes alot of regular maintenance.. So im gonna clean my connections later today and i think that will be the solution

Are you really asking about the difference in price and quality between "made in USA" and "made in China"? o_O

When talking series mods there is a difference. The Noisy Cricket (I have two) does not compare with an Underground, Piglet or especially a Rig series mod.

Now this mod will set you back a pretty coin.

Someone had to put it on the machine and hit the right button...and if they are American, you are going to pay out the nose for all that hard work

Your profile pic and your age make me wonder who these grown up men you speak of are. I was raised by a single dad and was in Iraq wearing a marine corps uniform when I was 30. Have a nice day junior.

It's not rocket science, it's just a simple metal tube a simple mechanical button and a simple 510 connector.
If a clone is properly built and is made with the proper materials it's going to be just as good (or even better) then the original, so you're basically paying 200$ for American pride.

Problem is that most clones are not as good as the original. Button issues and 510 just are not as good. Copper is thinner and lesser grade. Threading is often bad. There are a few good clones but I've had many issues with clones and no longer buy them.

Instead of trying to argue "if" and "should", try physically comparing quality originals with their chinese clones and you'll see how things are in the real world. Most non chinese authentics are miles better than their chinese clones. I own clones so I have no opposition to them, but I see and understand the quality difference. Whether or not that quality difference is worth the price difference is purely a personal opinion.

That is the issue. I'm not pointing fingers but how can someone say the clone is as good as the original if they never owned the original? I see this all the time. I have an authentic HexOhm and a clone HexOhm. The clone really is not bad but it ain't the same and uses a different chip. The original is clearly better. Now some originals are crap - we know that - but the really good ones ... smooth as silk threading, hard hitting and smooth buttons. Have not seen clones as good. There is a discussion now on tjhe Dotmod RDA clone. Apparently it is decent. Still is not as well made as the authentic.
