SMOK X Cube II: Cannot update from v1.092

So I have been looking for four days ever since I received my SMOK X Cube II for firmware and the tool but cannot find it anywhere. Well, that isn't exactly accurate. I found the link to Google Drive with the firmware and tool for v1.095 but for some reason I cannot download from that link the config.ini file required so that the "invalid chip ID" prompt when trying to connect to the tool doesn't pop up. I can see it before I download the files from google drive, but it doesn't appear after downloading and unzipping (even before unzipping).


There is nothing on smoktech.com. All the links are dead ends and I was unable to download from their website using chrome, canary, edge, explorer, firefox, ect. I've tried clearing my cache, cookies, and other various modes mentioned on other websites.

I think that if someone here had the config.ini file that they could send to me, I would be able to update my X Cube II. I think that is the last wall standing in my way. Any help would be appreciated. Platform: Windows 10 Pro, 64x. Thanks in advance.

Never mind. I went out on a limb and luckily it didn't break. So what I did is in google drive you can find old smok upgrade tools and new smok upgrade tools. I took the config file from new upgrade tools and the v1.095 .hex file and used that with the old upgrade tools. I was a little wary at the point in the directions @

where it tells you to:

"Choose the “Erase All” and checked the “Config” then click “Start” in the “Program” section. This step to make sure that your upgration works well."

because the config check box was unable to be selected (I don't know if it was because I was using an older version or what) but I crossed my fingers and went ahead anyways ("nothing ventured, nothing gained" I believe is how the saying goes). Luckily I got the "PASS" to appear as shown in the directions. Then I did the last step:

"Choose the “APROM” and checked the “Config” then click “Start” in the “Program” section. After seconds, the firmware will be upgraded to the latest one. If will show “PASS”, when you successfully upgraded your X CUBE II."

got the "PASS" again, inserted my batteries, powered my Cube 2 and there it was, v1.095. So... that being said, if anyone has a problem like I had, this is what I did and how I did it. Maybe describing in detail my issue here helped me think through it. Anyways, back to zoning out on vaping and playing my game.

If anyone has the .hex for v1.097, and likes it more than the v1.095, please send it to me. Still on the hunt for that one but at least now I'm in the v1.093 and up club. Happy vaping.

PS: Got a letter back from my State representative. He supports the FDA regulations on e-cigarettes. O' well, at least I, and countless others, made an attempt.The battle is lost but the war WILL NEVER BE OVER; because this... is... the vape-era (Spartan kick into giant, bottomless pit).

the link you sent with the instructions is dead. i have the same problem and really need your help.
