That's pretty cool. I'm kind of a sucker for the techy part too. Have always wanted to get an eVic for the same reason.
Smok has a pretty good track record. They've had a few clunkers but when you consider the number of products they produce, overall pretty reliable.

I am not able to find any independent reviews on this.
Hubby just ordered one for 89.99 should be here in 4 days.

I wonder if they are considering access to the programming via PC or Mac?

I own a Stoopid Phone and I am going to stay away from the smart ones as long as I can!

Cool looking device, What is up with the Chinese obsession with puff counters on devices?
Unfortunately it has pulse width modulation.

I don't get the obsession with puff counter either.

I received a Dovpo E-MECH yesterday and as sure as can be it had on of the damn things.

As of now, I am up to 301 puffs.

But to be fair, it keeps excellent time!

Military time but I can deal with that.

And I know what the date is as well:D

I decided to order one yesterday and it should arrive in the vapemail on Saturday. I'll put it through its paces over the weekend and post my findings.

Pulse width modulation is a voltage signal in high frequency. Basically it turns on and off the power to the coil several times a second. Its not a true flat voltage signal where the power would be continuous. Depending on the frequency it can make your atty have a annoying rattle snake sound.

All VW/VW devices have pulse width modulation - including the likes of the Provari and Evolv chips.
It's about the frequency of the modulation, the higher the better - Provari has high PWM and so does the Bec Pro apparently.

Yes but they have a very flat signal. I would like to see a video of this board being scoped to see how flat it really is. Getting real test data on most of these new devices is next to impossible. I do see Smok has added "flat signal" to their description.

The flat signal is a consequence of the higher modulation, it's great the Chinese manufacturers have cottoned on to the fact it provides a better vape.
I personally never want to hear a 'rattle-snaking' mod ever again.

If Phil B reviews a device he show the signal on a scope

It looks quite nice, and I like the specs (and price). But, do you have to use a phone with it or can you just use it as-is without the phone app? Can't seem to find any info about using it without a phone.

Got mine today too! They had already upgraded it to the 50Watts for me.

Bluetooth works on my LG G2 which only has Android 4.2. Yes, you can use it just fine without a phone. I don't hear any funny sounds? Rattlesnake? Then again I don't really know what it sounds like. Either way it's vaping a treat!

I have only one Genny tank where it does not make a connection and I have not tried to take the tank apart to see if I can adjust it or not. I don't think it will. It does fire it if I use a 510 adapter but I don't want to do that. Besides if everything else fits and that's the only one that won't work with it I can live with that. Whooo, and it's not as heavy as I was afraid it might be.

Threading is a little stiff but I have Noalox for that. Menu is easy to navigate and so is the bluetooth app. I am not sure how much I will use that bluetooth but I suppose it's a nice bonus or "show off" feature to my friends :) Time will tell how well it holds up. So far I do like the device and feel it was well worth the $95 I paid.

Oh and it has 3 modes, VV/VW and Mech ( I did not know about the mechanical mode )

Well, ordered one. My nephew's birthday is coming up and I know he will love this since his phone never seems to leave his hand. Of course, before I give it to him I'll have to test it out well to ensure proper operation. Might take a couple of weeks of testing....

Got it at esmokeclub.com. They have a 10% coupon for first-time shoppers, so it came to $80.99. Picked up some DIY flavors while I was there that were on special. Never heard of them before today, but they were very helpful when I did an online chat with them, so I think (hope!) all works out well with them.

I really like the looks of it, but having no smart phone to play with it, looks isn't enough to justify the price when I can buy a Vamo v5 for $30 or less. I don't even use the 15W on my SVD or Buzz Pro, so that don't mater to me. For now anyways. If it was $40 I might get one.:)

Okay, so the only thing I have noticed is it is a bit top heavy. I have had it fall over twice now when I set it down too quickly. Hmmm, I wonder if I can rig up something on the bottom of it to make it a little more stable. That's a great price @hazoita

Got it in the mail yesterday, and have been vaping it since then. Absolutely love it! While it does have some faults, overall for the price I find it to be a winner.

Top pluses for me are the overall look and feel, the button action, and the fact that I can run it in mech mode in addition to VV or VW. Performance has been excellent. Been using it mostly with a Pontus dripper with a 0.5 ohm build in mech mode, but have tried a variety of tanks and drippers with it with great results. It also has ego threading which for me is not all that useful, but the nephew will appreciate that since he likes to use evods on occasion.

The negatives are the threading (scratchy, but got much better with some Noalox), the limited info on screen, and the very short time the on-screen info is displayed. I’m not using this with a phone – and it’s quite usable in that manner – but it really needs the phone screen to take advantage of all the features in an easy manner.

Very, very tempted to keep it rather than give it to my nephew.

On a side note, great service from esmokeclub.com. It was my first order with them, and am 100% happy with their service. They were very helpful answering questions prior to the sale, updated the firmware for me so it reaches 50 watts, and got it to me in just a couple of days from the order date.

Forgot to mention RTD in my earlier post -- they are a 100% trustworthy battery vendor, and my go-to source for AW's.

illumn.com is also trustworthy. OOS of the VTC4 and 5 as well!

Yea, I heard they are getting a new factory, or something like that. That's why they are not available anywhere. I have a problem buying a clone of a battery or a main stream product, like aspire or kanger tech. Rda's , rba's, mods, that's different. Just as long as they are disclosed and priced accordingly as a clone. Sun vapors have a good article on how to tell the clones from the authentic on these sony's

Just ordered one. If my calculations are correct it will only pull 10A from the battery at 50w...and 20A at 100w when it is upgraded. Between the availability and prevalence of counterfeit VTC 4/5 i have gone with the Samsung 25R. Samsung has better curves than all batteries other than VTCs at 20A and 30A.

50W output will pull just over 50W from the battery. Worst case is when the battery is lowest, say 2.5V, when the current drawn will be 50/2.5 = 20A.
