So how many mods/apvs is enough?

Guess I haven't gotten in to vaping like most others have, that & my budget is super tight. Until recently (thanks to an istick as an early Christmas present) I've had a couple twist batteries just to rotate through while charging. May get 1 more vw box mod to supplement the istick, but that's about it. Just not sure about having 3 to 5 mods when I use everything on a lower power setting anyway. Just curious as to if the power output is really that much different, or if its shinyitis the look, something. My personal opinion but I think 2 is a good number, always need a backup. Tanks on the other hand I have like 5, different juices, whatever. Maybe I'm a cheap tight ass but I can't see the need for more than 2 mods/batteries/whatever term u want to use.

It's personal preference. I started on a 510 auto battery with a cartridge that held 10 drops of eliquid. Now I have 10 mods and about 15 Atty's. That's enough for me. I just rotate their use.

I don't see myself getting into the "hobby" or "collecting" end of vaping. I was considering a mechanical mod + RDA, but had a chance to try one today and didn't care for it. I have an MVP 2.0 for use @ home, which is great because it goes 2-3 days on a single charge. I also have a 134 Mini that I take with me when I go out of the house. I don't see myself investing in any more mods.

Tanks though...I want more of those. I have 4 tanks, two of which came with kits, and they're not very good. The other two are Aspire Nautilus Minis, and I really like them. I'd like to pick up a couple more.

Right when I think i'm set something new and innovative hits the market and i'm buying something else.
At one point in time I had a vamo v2 and a protank 1 and thought there was no way it could get any better.
That was 2 and a half years ago.
Today I have 2 120watt raptor/hammond boxes, a 50 watt hex ohm okr t-10, an ipv2, a vaporshark dna30, and a chana dna 30 that get regular use.
And a shitload of mechs and vv/vw tube mods that i never use.
To answer your question: For me, it never ends!;)

I figured the answers would be like this hehe, all good. Everyone has their own way to vape and that's ok.

If you are using ecigs to just stay off smokes and little else, you dont really need much once you find what works for you.....if you've found it to be an enjoyable hobby and find that collecting mods and other gear to be something you really like doing, there aren't enough mods on the planet to satisfy your urges....its really no different than any other hobby that one might get wrapped up in...its all about what someone is interested in as an enthusiast...

I honestly believe the "correct" answer is ... 1. It's gotta be the "correct" 1. So, I find myself as custodian for a small collection since what is "correct" for "me" changes over time, with my mood, with my outfit and with my activity.

I think it is similar to a watch or a pocket knife (similar buying patterns at least). I have 17 watches and about 10 pocket knives using similar justification.

Thing is ... life off the stinkies affords me enough uncommited resources to treat myself well.

Right now I'm at 9 mods and 4 rebuildables. This should be enough but then you never know. I think as long as your mods are different and unique from one another you can justify it.

As a rebuildable tank and dripper user, here is my opinion on an ideal and minimum mod collection for my needs.
1 30watt variable device for the tanks
1 100watt variable device for the drippers
1 mechanical mod for backup

The answer to how many mods you need is 20.

#1 - the first one you buy
#2 - the one you buy after you learn what you’re doing
#3 - the one you buy after you learn even more
#4 - a Provari to see what all the fuss is about that the fanboys make about it
#5 - the first time you spend time browsing Fasttech
#6 - the one you buy while waiting for #5
#7 - the one you buy just in case one of the other ones break
#8 - the one you buy after seeing a raving positive review about it
#9 - the one you buy just because it looks so nice
#10 - the one you buy while drunk clicking
#11 - the one you buy to celebrate your vapversary
#12 - the one you buy since that preorder was just too compelling to pass up
#13 - the one you buy since it’s version 2 of one you already have, and the pre order still hasn't shipped
#14 - the one you buy since it will be perfect to use while driving
#15 - the one you buy and tell yourself it’s the last one you’re going to buy
#16 – the one you buy since it’s got 50 more watts than #12 and they fixed the problem with the 510 connector
#17/#18 - the one you buy that is so freaking good you buy another one the next day
#19 - the one you buy after reading too many posts about the what the FDA is going to do to the vape industry and you want to be prepared for the worst
#20 - the one you’re shopping for right now

I don't have many at all , i have three total , i make sure the ones i get do everything i need them to do so i don't need to purchase anything else . Many don't know what they need and what their personal preferences are so they buy something and find out it doesn't work for them and continue to buy more .

There will always be new and exciting mods coming out , unless you have unlimited funds you can spend a ton .

11 attys
5 mechs (2 on the way)
1 Sig 100w
1 MVP2 w/2 iClear 16's

I actually use 4 of the 10 attys, and 3 of the 4 mechs, & the Sig. The other's sit in my desk drawer ready to be given away to friends who are serious about quitting smoking. Working on my Brother at the moment...

As VH said above, trying to narrow down what I really like. As far as a regulated mod goes, IMO haven't seen anything that beats the Sig 100 bang for the buck.

At least 2-3 mechs, a sigelei 100w, and a 30w box. X2-3 the amount of attys. And as much batteries, wick and wire as you can afford.

Depends.
If you collect them, then never enough.
If you want convenience, then a few
If your really frugal, then 1

I'm mostly between the last 2 statements.
Might get a bit towards the first if I get into rebuildables.

Never enough... I need to learn to stop saying I'm done for a while, since I never am. I just got an ipv3 and I already want another regulated box, just 30-50 watts. I clearly remember telling someone that unlike my obsession with mechs, I couldn't see myself wanting any other regulated mod. Yeah... That lasted a bit over a week.

Since I started vaping I have owned well over $8000 in kit. I tend to buy something and use it for a bit....then PIF it off to someone else. The ones I do keep are the "unicorn" pieces that are SUPER LOW serial number (#5 or less) handmade bits from makers that I have actually shaken hands with...that I collect and will never get rid of. Currently I have 10 mods....15 atomisers...10 drip tips. My monthly vape budget is around $400 give or take.

I like to see that, I've seen some of your posts about hooking people up. Were it not for my family helping me out I'd still be smoking pyramids or whatever else is cheap nowadays. Everything I'm using now (even e liquid) has been a huge blessing to me. I have bought tanks n coils the usual stuff, but mod/apv wise only thing I bought was a crap twist battery from fast tech that pooped in a month. It was $12, can't complain much I guess. The vaping community needs more people with the resources to help people on a limited budget get off analogs.

I thought I was happy with one, but i ended up developing shinyitis :0 I didn't get a second mod til 5 months after my first one
I have 15 drippers and my first mod was to venture into mechs,
second, a Maraxus that I found, then lost,
third, has the same name of a car I really want(and to replace my second one),
fourth, i wanted to see what the fuss is about hybrids,
fifth, they made a new version of my third one,
sixth, the authentic looks really nice,(still want to get one),
seventh, i wanted to try a pinky button mech.

I have two more mods coming in the mail, several on my wish list, and I haven't even ventured into tanks or VV/VW box mods either lol :0
It kinda became a hobby for me, my first mech still performs great but I want more lol.

Why does it seem like I have waaaaaayyyy too many #10's in my collection?? LOL

I think I have a problem, smoked for 37 years quit and started vaping 9 months ago never looked back. Problem is now I have a Vamo, DNA30, 6 mechs, 6 clearomizers, 5 aerotanks, 8 rebuildable tanks, 11 drippers, and 60 bottles of juice. Now I am thinking about building a Box mod or 2. New Vape shop just opened think I need to check it out.

I don't see it that way , while there are people who really could use some help it's more of the kind of help with choosing what vape gear should be purchased and what to not waste your money on then it is to just give vape gear away to everybody imo.

People who can afford to buy cartons of analogs can afford to buy an iStick or an MVP which is the right type of device to let them conquer their habit. It's the starting out with the pitiful cigalike type of ecigs that doom most people who want to quit the analogs .

In the overwhelming majority of cases those gas station cigalike e cigs are what most analog users try to quit with so it's no wonder when an analog smoker is asked did you ever try e cigs , they say yes and they are terrible.

Most do not continue with e cigs after that first impression , they think thats all there is , many do not realize the market has much more effective vaporizers and other things available that are far far better than cigalikes.

Guide them to the right gear and they will have a superior chance of coming out on top.

I'm going thru about 70 to 80ml /week. but I used to smoke up to 3 packs a day, so that part is done. being a truck driver I have to have enough for a 8 to 10hr worth of driving.

Awesome Post !!!!- Open, honest, and so true. You defiantly put some work and time into your post I call #19 A government sanctioned Vaping Apocalypse w/o Zombies. Where we have to take our mods to the police station, so they can be melted down. I have a bunch of Mods for the same reasons you do. I have the Innokin iclear 2 and the SMY 60 mini because one looks like a hand grenade and the other has a screen like something off the space shuttle. I hardly use them, but I can not part with them. If the were dinosaurs, they would be called Coolasaurus Rex.

Enough to have several in each category, and they each need at least a backup and the total has to be a round number, so:
2 low wattage box mods
2 high wattage box mods
2 side-by-side form factor
2 tubes
2 stealth mods
2 water proof mods

so there you have it: 12 is the magic number

and if you want to mix it up, you need to add:
2 sqonkers
2 mechs

Fossal

I never count, there is always another must have or two. I think over two dozen mechs, 20+ regulated, with rda's, rta's, tanks, and subtanksin the 50+ range. I diy juice and just enjoy my habit (addiction) so, who cares.
