I am trying to make a Lemonhead candy vape with a koolada chill. Almost like a Lemon Icee. I am having a tuff time. Currently I am using

8% FE Lemon - Just had some on hand
2% TFA Koolada

It's just missing that sour tart flavor and need a little bit more cooling agent a maybe a bit sweeter, and ideas are welcome. I tried TFA Sour at 2% and it gave it a bland taste. Also this is for a MAX VG recipe.

Do you have and lime? A tiny touch of lime will make it tart. I like FA Cold Pressed for that. Anise is a fun flavor for cool sweetness, but it's not for everyone. I will say the more I use it, the more and more I've liked it.

3/1 TFA Sweettart/TFA Sour. Use Use Sweettart at percentages from 3% to 18% Sour 1% to 6%. You get the idea. The sour seems to knock the sweetness down from the sweet fruits to a level manageable by the sweettart. It takes experimenting with each FA flavor.

Just an added complication to consider: some people (like me) simply get no effect from those 'sour' additives when vaping. So if you're adding more and more, yet taste just muted flavor, you're not the only one. Using more PG in your base can help some, because VG argues with sour flavors and additives.

You can do some experiments outside your recipe to see what sources of sour work for you. Mix tiny batches of nothing but those additives or flavors and see which give you the sour you're after. For me, flavorings like lime work best, but that's definitely not true for everyone. Some people taste those tart 'n sour additives very strongly when vaping. I wish I could!

This lemon-ice idea sounds SO good it makes me want to try some experimenting. I don't have any sour additives, but I have some FA lemon and koolada--and some (I think) TFA lime, with a bit of sour added to that. If I get to mix this, I will let you know! Thanks for the inspiration :)

The never ending PG /VG I wish we had a vapong medium that was neutral predictable ya know every flavor with this base so we could all have like a full dinner lasana and then some beans and a cake a some sardines.... ok never mind but I am serious about a better vaping medium to build upon PG yuck I hate it but i know some of recipes without it are ummm blah... vg as HIC said is the majic masker sometimes it rears its ugly head and one thinks what?

ok me tired me go bed make sense

I wasn't aware of this business about VG neutralizing sour flavors, but I guess it makes sense inasmuch as VG is sweet. (Are there other reasons?)

I have read in various places that PG is the 'better flavor carrier" and that "VG mutes flavor", but have also read often too that this is a myth. What it will come down to for me is just doing more testing, with different bases.

I made some 30/70 base tonight, rather than my usual 100% VG (or a little less + DW) because although I'm pretty sure PG does something bad to my body, I'm going to try to mix for my mom as well, now, and VG makes her cough--coats her throat, I guess. On the other hand, PG aggravates her tinnitus, so, I'm hoping that ratio will work both for her, and for my own flavor testing purposes.

My opinion, fwiw... I used to vape high PG, now max VG. I have not had to change percentages on any recipes at all to get the same flavor strength, so I absolutely disagree that VG mutes flavors in general. It does take more shaking and/or time to mix flavorings in, but that's no big deal. BUT VG is sweet, and that can work against sour flavors. JMO.

Notsri.....did u try lemonade? I mixed up a batch of HIC's lemon meringue pie(spot on by the way) but I needed a little more sour/tart punch for my palate. so I put in a couple drops of lemonade and POOF!!!! IMO this is the spot on flavor(for me) of Lemon meringue pie. I have sour as well but didnt go that route.

I will have to see if any of these ideas work... They all make perfect sense. We will just have to see how it translates. That VG is sweet so the sour is hard to find. Keep posting ideas. Ill be mixing new batches in the meantime. Ill post if I hit on a winner.
