Spaced Vs Not-spaced coils?

What are the qualities of a spaced coil compared to a conventional coil?

All the tanks I have bought come with spaced coils, whether in their RBAs or, in the case of the Kangers, in the OCC heads. I've started building spaced claptons and 26 gauge micros but I'd like to know what the exact properties are of a spaced coil.

fast to crank out when spacing is not an issue.
I think the child labor slaves in China making said coils get paid like jack and shit per piece so spaced coils is what you get.

Until recently I have used non spaced microcoils.

But a week ago or so, I tried to cram in more wick than needed and ended up spacing the coil by accident.

IMHO, more flavor and more vapor.

Also uses E-Liquid a lot faster!

Not hard to make a microcoil on a jig and space it out before removing it for installation.

I do both, it really depends on the build. I know some say you should always space Ni to prevent hot spots. But I really haven't had any issues with it.

But I do try to keep most of my coils tightly stacked. Unless I'm building for a particular juice.

Thanks for sharing. I have noticed denser vapor on the 26 gauge builds and less heat on the clapton. Have not tried spacing on my 24 or 22 builds though. It is easy to space a coil after winding, I just use my thumbnail while it's still on the screwdriver. I do torch it first before doing the spacing.

didnt folks start using contact coils to get more mileage from the coils as far as re wicks without destroying the coils...still use good ol spaced coils tho, get real pretty ones with the coil master type coilers too...

AFAIK contact coils get hotter faster and also take longer to cool down which is why I prefer my claptons spaced. Not sure why they would extend wick life, I would think the opposite would be true.
