Spider-Man: Homecoming will retain two of its original screenwriters for the sequel.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Homecoming screenwriters Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers are in final talks with Sony and Marvel Studios to pen the yet untitled sequel, which is set to hit theaters on July 5, 2019.
McKenna and Sommers worked on the upcoming Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Ant-Man and the Wasp before joining the latest Spider-Man movie.
Homecoming director Jon Watts will also reportedly be back to helm the sequel, as the filmmaker wasn't locked in for a second installment before Homecoming's release. Watts co-wrote the film with McKenna, Sommers, Christopher Ford, Jonathan Goldstein, and John Francis Daley.
