In a huge cast full of show-stealing characters, The Suicide Squad’s Polka Dot Man, played by David Dastmalchian, may have stolen the whole thing thanks to his comically depressed personality and, um...mommy issues. We weren’t prepared for him to win the day on social media, though, with one of the cutest cat outfits ever, inspired by his polka dot-covered suit and goggles.
In an Instagram post made a little over two months ago, Dastmalchian revealed he had adopted a stray cat who approached him on the set of The Suicide Squad in Panama. To celebrate the occasion, he had Suicide Squad costume designer Judianna Makovsky make a Polka Dot Man outfit for the cat.
The cat’s full name? Abner Bubblegum Polka Dot Cat.
Costumer designer Makovsky has also worked on the Harry Potter films, The Hunger Games, and numerous Marvel films, so there’s quite the pedigree in that cat outfit.
“With the help of my @thesuicidesquad family & some generous animal lovers in Panama, I was able to rescue Bubblegum (full name: Abner Bubblegum Polka Dot Cat),” Dastmalchian wrote. “She has been a blessing to our family & was instrumental in helping us through the pandemic. Please adopt, don’t shop, and spay/neuter your pets. (costume by Judianna Makovsky). Thank you, @jamesgunn!”
