There is one vape shop out of the 4 near me that I really like going to, and its because they have these great tanks prefilled with pretty much all the juices they sell. Whenever I want to try a flavor, all I need to do is switch out their drip tip and pop my drip tip in, and they have a mod all charged up with a tank. The juice always tastes flavorful, and so finally I asked them what they use for customers to try their juices. Apparently they use a JoyTech eVic VT with a Joytech Ego One atomizer with a .5 coil (set at 30w). I am a MTL vaper, I use Nautilus tanks with 1.8/1.6 coils mainly on either a Provari 2.5 or a Sigelei at 12 watts, and I was very surprised at how smooth and flavorful this combo was, and I wasn't even changing my way of inhaling! I have no idea why I was able to MTL on a .5 coil, but there I was, dragging on it just like I do with my Nautilus.
Then I tried the guy's own setup, a Releaux x200 with a Uwell Crown tank also at .5 with 30watts. Granted, I had to do DL hits with that one, but the flavor was fantastic. I do have 2 sub ohm tanks (a Herakles and an Arctic), but they do not provide any flavor like this tank did. I had used both .5 and 1.2 ohm coils on the Arctic, but very muted flavor. Herakles at .5 was also very muted flavor.
Can anyone shed any light on this? I was astounded that the Joytech Ego One tank was so easy to vape off of at .5; no coughing, great flavor, lots of vapor. And the Crown tank was the absolute smoothest and easiest tank to do DL hits with. Is it just the tank or does the mod have anything to do with this?

Flavor is very subjective. If you enjoy a certain tank/coil that gives you an enjoyable vape and your not smoking, then If I were you I would get that set up. In my opinion, the Herakles tank with the Ni200 coils, have the best flavor BY FAR when compared to the Ego One Mega or even the Crown with SS or nickel. So again, flavor is a personal preference. The quality of the premade coils has a lot to do with it.

I don't know what level your used to, but I would guess they use a zero nicotine for sampling. That could possibly have something to do with the smoothness. Crown is just a good tank.

I don't have any real world experience with the ego one...other than many friends complaining about it leaking like a sieve... But the Crown is a top dog contender for best overall flavor sub ohm.

I vape on an arctic at work, and use .2 coils (not TC). I choose this as the tank is inexpensive, as are the coils, and I'm clumsy as hell. If I break it (which I have) it won't break my heart. And although the flavor doesn't come close to the crown, I don't think I'd say it was muted, really.

Thank you everyone. They have an option of nicotine levels, so i chose what i normally use. I do have to say that the flavor was very intense; i tried flavors that i already had at home. :)

In that case, there is only one thing to do; buy more stuff. That's what I do.

Since I already have a Herakles, I am going to try different coils. I have heard terms of temperature control and all that, do the Ni200 coils need any special settings?

I was very impressed with the crown tank and I need to find out again what coils he was using in it. It was very easy to take a DL hit with that tank, I was surprised. Also, the flavor was great and it was a flavor that usually is quite subtle, but with this setup it was more pronounced. I normally use juices at 9 or 12 of nic, but if I were to get back into subohming I know I need to drop the nic level :)

Leaky tanks drive me nuts, that's for sure. I wish I liked my Arctic more, but I have a friend who would love it and use it everyday, so they are going to get it, at least it will get more use!

I have a feeling that I am going to be getting a crown tank very very soon. :)

If you get the Crown, there is a little silicone washer in the cap that will fall out if you're not paying attention. That washer is critical to maintaining a vacuum. I you lose it or don't get it to seal properly when you put the cap back on after filling the Crown, it will leak. It was a mystery to me for a while when one of my Crowns was leaking and the other wasn't, but this turned out to be the issue. They really could have done a better job on this particular aspect of the Crown's design

You will need a device that handles TC, and for an enjoyable vape, you should consider at least 50 watts and can go up to 600 deg F. A ton of quality devices out there that will serve you well, just need a budget and some criteria that your looking for like size, internal or external battery, single or more 18650 device, color, etc...Coils for the Herakles are super cheap and readily available on Ebay.

I have a Sigelei 75w TC, that might fit the bill!

I'm an MTL vaper, and I'm successfully MTL vaping an Aspire Triton II with a .4ohm coil at 30w...I've got the air flow shut almost all the way down to tighten the draw as well. Not a single issue.

do you feel that subohming makes a difference in flavor and vapor from a MTL perspective?

MTL vaper here. There doesn't have to be a difference, at least not a big difference. The sub-ohm mini with a stainless steel coil at 0.6-ish ohms works well for me. Goblin mini dual SS coils at 0.8 ohms, goblin nano dual coil, they all perform, the only thing to be mindful of is nicotine level. When you get into sub-ohm territory, the hit is quite a bit stronger, just keep that in mind.

I actually think my KF4 provides more flavor and vape density at 20w with a 1.1ohm coil than the Triton does with a .4ohm coil at 30w, but it's almost the same. Of course, it's all subjective, and just my opinion.

I know this may sound strange, but i thought the only way to vape with a subohm atomizer was to DL, and so i never considered it an option. However, my experience at the vape shop showed me something new. I was interested in buying the goblin, but i think its a RTA only?

I have 3 Tritons in rotation and all have the 1.8 ohm coils. I MTL so the airflow is turned down slightly. It is a slightly loose draw for MTL with the flow open all the way but the flavor is very good.
