That's about right amount wise. For 6 strength, you'd use .9 ml so possibly your nicotine is very peppery. I don't know anything about ecig express nicotine, but there are reviews here in one of the DIY forums on nicotine bases available.

I got a couple of mixes under my belt as of now. They're both peppery. Not too much that I can't handle but definitely enough that it annoys me.
What steps can be taken to avoid this? I only used 5.5% on an assortment of flavors and 8% nic which gives me under 6mg nic, will lowering the nic reduce the peppery sensation? Initially I thought to increase flavors as the taste was too subtle upon mixing but after a couple of days in the car the flavors pretty good so I think the flavors are on point I'm assuming the nic is the culprit. Next batch maybe I will go 5 or 6% nic and see how that goes.

Depends what setup you're vaping on. If you're on an RDA with lower guage wire like 24awg, 3mg nic will feel like 12mg. If you're on a Kayfun with a 28awg wrap, you won't even get a buzz.

I normally vape 6mg. My current mixes being a little under that.

VG Base NIC, be sure it's mixed in well and hasn't separated...
Sometimes the peppery ones will work OK with Tobacco vapes.
Or use a smaller amount, added to the better stuff below, so you don't have to throw it all out.

Get some (VT)Vaperstek or (NN)Nude Nicotine, to sample for comparison.

You can dilute a 60ml, 100mg bottle to 120ml of 50mg, or a 30ml to a 60ml.
