The primary DC universe is constantly growing and changing. There are plenty of entertaining characters and teams to follow, but sometimes comic creators can have a little more imaginative fun with stories that aren’t weighed down by continuity -- tales set in other realities, or “Elseworlds.”
Gotham By Gaslight, which features a version of Batman who’s hunting down Jack the Ripper in the late 19th century, is one such Elseworlds story.
