Like my Season 2 review, I’m going to open up this review with a quick note for those who may not have been watching The Americans yet, which is… Get with it! This is easily one of the best shows on TV and yet it continues to feel criminally overlooked – most certainly among IGN readers. It’s got great characters, cool spy moments, intense action scenes and more. So if you're not watching, go catch up... and then come back and read this review, of course!
Okay, so on to full spoilers for Season 3!
Making the stakes even more personal and intense for the Jennings, Season 3 took Season 2’s big ending and the question of whether Paige (Holly Taylor) would be recruited or not and ran with it. This was not going to be an easy decision and indeed, we saw Elizabeth (Keri Russell) and Philip (Matthew Rhys) argue about it intently, both between themselves and their old/new handler, Gabriel (Frank Langella, nailing his character’s paternal nature, mixed in with an underlying intensity).
