Hello vapers

I decided to make a thread for those who have had a little wicking issue with this thing.
I'd like to start off by saying this is an awesome tank, the method which I am currently using
is giving me some of the best flavor I've had from any tank I've tried to date, and the clouds
aren't far behind. So I received this in the mail a few days ago and decided to try different builds
as well as different wicking to see what worked and what didn't. I must admit, I got a little frustrated
as the tank did not perform up to my expectations like I initially thought it would. I had gone through
various reviews/tutorials on youtube which mostly recommended for us users to feed the wicks
through the small holes at the bottom of the deck and either have them resting at the bottom of the
tank or just about a centimeter below the deck holes. However, neither of these two methods worked
for me. Maybe it could be because of the cotton I was using, but I tried japanese cotton sheets and
organic cotton balls for about 5 different builds with no success. So what worked you ask?
It was very simple, and in fact made the process of building on this thing that much easier.
I decided to go through damn near every review of the Avocado 24 online which provided a build
tutorial and stumbled across this.

I'm so thankful for this guys tutorial because this did an absolute turn around for this tank.
It wicked just beautifully and there was no issues whatsoever anymore. One thing I did do
is decide to put Cotton Bacon for the wicking. Now I'm not saying this may be your preference
for this tank and it may not necessarily be what works for you, but this method did a huge
difference for me and hopefully it can be of some assistance to you if you're having
any trouble with this tank.

Now...like I said earlier, I am thoroughly enjoying this tank. BUT there is one small thing that
really needs to be pointed out about this thing which I have to say is a CON due to the nature
of safety. When I received the tank I decided it to clean it and exchange the o-rings. After taking it
apart I seemed to have everything in place, so I put the tank back together and proceeded to
building and wicking. Later that evening I found a small peek insulator resting at the top of my
bed, keep in mind I had been vaping on this thing for the past 2-3 hours. I then realized that
the insulator looked foreign as I had never seen the insulator in any of my other tanks/rda's.
So I decided to go online AGAIN and look for all the pieces that come in the Avocado 24.
There is no signs of the peek insulator on any diagram. However, I was lucky enough to find
a thread where numerous people had lost this insulator as they washed and cleaned their thanks.
After further review I saw someone post a picture of how the insulator looked and realized it was the
same one I found resting at my bed. This is the picture that was posted

http://forum.geekvape.com/uploads/editor/5t/yvhp13lhz8x8.jpg

The insulator is located right underneath the deck where the center pin threads into the deck, this
is VERY important for you to know since it can be potentially dangerous if you lose this.
I hope anyone who owns this tank finds their preferred method and shares any techniques that
may be useful for us all. Please be careful when disassembling your tank and remember to keep VAPING!!

Also, for anyone who may be interested in my build
I'm using a parallel 24g Kanthal single coil, 6 wraps on a 3mm drill bit doing 0.27 ohms
vaping at 46 watts using a Sigelei 150TC:xD:

When I first got mine I saw that video and it did work that way. I can do just as well though dropping my coil ID to 2.5. I make my wick a little tight fitting inside the coil. I cut the ends pretty short and comb them out a little with some ceramic tweezers. Then I put them just inside the hole. Barely any, if any is below the deck. I would get the occasional leak with ends just tucked under on top of the holes like in the video. This was with Japanese cotton pads. I peel both sides, fluff it a little, maybe roll it a bit and slide it in pretty tight. I got a LOT of spitting with claptons or twisted wire at first but the dense pack inside the coil and the thinned out, shortened tails wick really well. There isn't enough juice flooding the coil fast enough to produce a lot of spitting that way. When it's right, it's a great flavor tank. It's a picky little tank though. I tried a couple dozen builds before I got it just right, for me anyway.

Easy way to wick the A-24. I gave it a try and it works well. One of my favorite tanks to date.

So I decided to try this a few days ago, made sure my cotton was a snug, fluffed out each end and fed just the slightest bit of cotton into the holes but made sure to leave enough room for air to flow through.
I did the 2.5mm inner diameter and decided to go with a 24g Kanthal, 6 wrap spaced single coil reading at 0.47 ohms
it took about 15-20 draws to break in my cotton but the reward was amazing. Absolutely loving this thing.
I appreciate you sharing with us, the coil and wick lasted me 3 days with great flavor
could have maybe gone further but I got fused clapton coils in the mail yesterday and decided to throw one in there.
Currently no spit back whatsoever. Could be because I'm not vaping at high wattages though
43 watts on my Sigelei 150TC is pure bliss

I've got a Raymo2u Clapton in there. It's running at .33 at 62w. Flavor is amazing and she wicks like a champ. Coil has been in there going on 5 weeks and she performs just like the day I got her. Loving my Avocado but I hate the name. Lol.

I'm glad it worked for you! I tired some big coils and the only way I could get it to wick well was to do like the above video shows but then out of the blue came the leaking and the flooded coils spitting and acting evil. Not my thing. I never got any flavor benefit from the larger coils in that small chamer either, just more heat. I like a fairly cool vape and in this tank you can easily produce a cool, thick dense heavy vapor full of flavor. That heavy dense vape that rolls out and straight down if you exhale slowly. That's what I like.

I'm with you on the cool yet thick and dense vape
I'm all about flavor and this tank delivers just that but it provides those awesome clouds as well
If you have any other wicking methods in the future please feel free to add, that goes for anyone
reading this thread as well.
Also I'm not sure if you've tried the single spaced coil on this booger yet but if not you should go for it.
I admit this fused clapton is giving me amazing flavor but it gets the tank a bit hot, the single spaced coil was alot cooler in that regard
and the flavor was still great.
Anyhow thanks again buddy, keep vaping

I've been doing a lot of temp control vaping lately. With the ability to adjust tcr values TC has finally started getting consistent versus the sporadic results from earlier devices. For me spaced coils work better with TC so I've been using them a lot.

+1 for spaced coils, using a fused clapton
I freaking love this tank

I don't get the bad rep some folks give it
performance wise I can't complain one bit
so long as you nail the wicking you're good to go

So guys, I wanted to know if any of you have had any success in being able to relocate the direction in which the coils face
I recently got a new mod and the coils were facing the back of my mod which I didn't mind at all, worked great actually
however I recently took the tank apart completely and now for some reason the coils face the sides of my mod, I've tried to take the tank
apart and re-assemble it but I've had no success in getting it how I want it.
I'm starting to think that it may be possible that I hadn't screwed my glass to the deck completely before taking it apart and maybe that's why it was facing the back of my mod, any help on this matter would be awesome. I'm just not a fan of having my mod facing at a side angle, thanks in advance guys

Must be the wire you use then, because my Avocado 24 never spits or pops. I use 25g ss 317L in mine and it's smooth and vapes great.
You are correct...
I'm using regular 10 wraps 316l 24g it vapes perfect now, sell me ur 510 adapter?

Pretty similar to my build, 10 wraps here too, ohms out at 0.39, used a 3mm bit. Just around where I like it [anywhere between 0.3 - 0.4]

I only ever sell the full jobby, tank + spares, and will be keeping this one a while, sorry :D

Personal milestone with this tank.... I have rewicked and coiled it 5 times in a row with no spit/pop...no leaking....No dry hits at 75 watts and am loving this tank.

Looking forward to the bottom air flow version.

26 ga 3.5mm ka1 6 open wraps on cotton bacon that just barely fills the holes, doesn't extend beyond the bottom of the deck and allows air to flow back.....if you don't see bubbles under the wicks after a good vape your packing too tight.

J cotton or bacon, its not fussy.

I had been building single coils as well, but I thought what the heck, might as well try it out. I'm not sure if the better flavor is due to the dual coils or the improved wicking. I had been wicking about half way down the glass. I wonder if the Limitless Plus would benefit from the same wicking style?
