The Magicians settled back into more familiar territory with "Mendings, Major and Minor," and dealt with serious issues while also introducing viewers to the Syfy series' wizarding competition, Welter's.

In thinking of the way this episode played out compared to last week's stellar "The World in the Walls," I wonder how these two episodes would have played if "Mendings, Major and Minor" aired before the trip inside Quentin's mind. This episode was a bit more of a traditional episode of The Magicians (is it too early to call them "traditional" if the show has only aired five episodes?) but also offered some much needed context for Quentin's (Jason Ralph) relationship with his father.
