Toy maker Hasbro has confirmed it has “no current plans to create more” Cara Dune action figures following Lucasfilm’s decision to remove actress Gina Carano from the Mandalorian series, Deadline reports.

Previous reports indicated Hasbro was discontinuing Cara Dune figures due to Carano’s controversial social media posts, as evidenced by a customer support message from BigBadToyStore. Hasbro has now officially confirmed its stance.

“We’re thrilled to have the privilege of creating products featuring characters and stories from The Mandalorian for our fans. Hasbro has completed development of all season 1 and 2 product featuring Cara Dune, and there are no current plans to create more. We are actively working with our retail partners to address existing orders,” Hasbro senior vice president of global communications Julie Duffy said.

In a report from THR detailing Disney's decision to fire Carano, Cara Dune was not expected to be a part of the upcoming Boba Fett spinoff, and the outlet's sources indicate Cara Dune may be recast down the line for plot and merchandise reasons. Lucasfilm announced it had fired Carano in a statement originally obtained by io9, stating that the actress’ social media posts “denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.” Carano was the subject of criticism online when, in a now-deleted Instagram post, she compared being a modern-day Republican to being Jewish during the Holocaust. The hashtag [HASH=3531]#FireGinaCarano[/HASH] has trended on social media in recent months after other incendiary comments by the television and film star.

Lucasfilm originally planned on announcing a new Star Wars series focused on Carano’s character, but those plans were scrapped by December following her earlier comments. It’s unclear how heavily Lucasfilm or Disney invested in producing Cara Dune action figures, but considering Lucasfilm had big plans for her character, it makes sense that Cara Dune would have originally been included in merchandising opportunities.

Carano also previously made comments critical of pronouns being used in Twitter bios (a move which was seen as denigrating of transgender people), shared memes mocking the use of masks during the COVID-19 pandemic, alleged voter fraud during the 2020 election, and made comments critical of the Black Lives Matter movement.
