I thought I'd open a new thread for the Merlin. Don't know if it will go anywhere or not but the other thread got shitted on by one dumbass. I'd love to learn more about it. I ordered one and it will be here Monday. I already have the Boreas. Any tips and tricks and pics of how to wick and how you've installed your coils would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully @roxynoodle can come in on this thread and help us out again. Maybe we can let the dumbass have the other thread and just start this new one. Hopefully that is. Here we go......

Roxy recommended this to me and I second it, dunno if you saw me say it before..put your coil way up high, just a tiny bit below the top of the posts, and scooted in to be right over the airflow.
As for wicking I've found stuffing wick down into the cups to get the shape then pulling them back up and out to sit on top of the cups to work great.

I've only got a couple of builds in on my Merlin, but that is what is working best for me right now.

And it's really good :)

I like the idea, less bullshit and more talk about the Merlin. And hope our Roxy will make an appearance once in a while :)

Hands down the Merlin is the easiest RTA to build.

As far as the wicks, I just gently get the ends stuck into the cups.

Takes a bit to get used to the liquid control but after a few tries easy peasy

I went back to see what the hell happen there, and I watched the review/first look..

Obviously JAI is not a reviewer, he is a PREVIEWER.....

AUGVAPE shouldn't be sending shit to that him..and he said it on ytubes comments he review out of the box... Tsk tsk tsk.

Going back to MERLIN, I don't have have one and I'm not planning to buy one... Roxy should come out of hiding.
VAPING IS SUBJECTIVE...
Not everybody will like what you like...

I won a Merlin in the contest. I'm very grateful. I'm use to dual coils and a more open draw. While I like the tank for a change of pace, I wouldn't use it on a daily basis. Even with the air restrictor removed and AFC wide open, it's still a little tight for me. I think it's just because I'm use to the wide open 25mm RTA's now. If I would have got it when I was using a KFL+, my opinion would probably be different.

PS The 2 juice holes on mine seem pretty small, but haven't really caused me a problem. I've avoided making this post because I don't want to come across as ungrateful. I do think it's a nice change of pace and the build quality on mine is great.

I put a simple coil in the Merlin this morning. A .8 ribbon - 6 wrap @ about 1ohm. Stuffed the wick in the cups then lifted it. It was trying to dry hit. So I did it again with less wick. I did like most everyone says to do. Pushed it in the cup then lifted to the top. First couple hits were ok then it started leaking. At this time the Lemo2 is much better than the Merlin for me. I get as much vapor and the flavor is on par as I've had from the Merlin. I'm going to keep trying to get this to work. But not sure for how much longer. I'm about ready to toss this in the drawer as a bad buy for me.

Well this worked for me very well , tuck it and pull it back up a little ......sounds oddly sexual but it works and now I'm up to 35 without any burnt hits . Thanks for the tip!

The Merlin's airflow is a little too tight even with the airflow restrictor removed but the vapor is dense and tasty. I have to admit that I really love the way it looks, much better looking than the Boreas for me, tempted to get the Black Merlin as well.

If it just had a little more airflow then I would be much more satisfied, I am getting use to it though and it is in my daily rotation of tanks. I picked up the Wotofo Conqueror right about the same time and I prefer it a little more due to the increased airflow but would be happy with either.

Maybe I'll just hang around here for awhile, as some good info has been posted here already. I'm still waiting on mine to arrive from STS (my Black Merlin), supposed to be to me on Friday. Keep posting and I'll keep reading. Good Stuff folks, Thanks.

Just got mine a couple days ago and am having a slight issue... I have a 3.5mm ID fused clapton and contrary to advise, tucked my wicks into the holes (but not overly full) I get no dry hits... In fact, the opposite.

I find the vape spits waaaay too much... I obviously have to much unburned juice in the chamber... What can I try to fix this?

1. Will be moving the coil higher per advice
2. ?

Took it apart to re-wick and dry burn... Wow... The ramp up time is VERY slow... You were right on the money. I'm not used to claptons... This was only my second build using one.

Good deal! Sometimes on those you just gotta bump the wattage. They can just take longer at low watts to ramp up. Shock those suckers!

I had a twisted 28g clapton 8 wraps and it produced too much of heat. The problem with the heat was that after taking a pull a lot of vapor would escape from the airflow and condense on my mod.

Just out her for anyone here , I have a flawless black merlin , had one build in it but the airflow is way to restrictive for me . I debated drilling it out but decided against it , looking to trade it to someone who will enjoy it instead for adding it to the shelf to gather dust . Anyone interested just let me know .
