I found my Mikro RDA in the mail today. I installed a 15-wrap nickel coil in it, wicked it and...
WOW!
The flavor is great, and vapor production isn't half bad either And of course, by design, it doesn't leak at all. Brilliant!
Compared to my favorite RDA to date (the Manta v2 RDA), in no particular order:
- It's a tiny bit more flavorful - at least with the inner bell on,
. It produces a bit more vapor.
- It's a little harder to install the coil on, but a little easier to wick.
- With the inner bell on, the airflow is looser than the Manta v2 with the air holes wide open. Without the inner bell, it's as airy as it gets - but I don't like it that way, personally.
- The vapor is piping hot, but not unbearably so. I love it!
- There's no "layered vape" feeling like with ordinary small 3-post atomizers running in single coil mode - i.e. you don't feel hot vape from the coil side, and cold air from the empty side coming separately in your mouth at the same time.
- I don't seem to get much spitback - just the right amount that produces an enjoyable feeling - so I use it with my favorite 510 drip tip instead of the ugly plastic chuff cap it comes with.
- Because the chamber is so small and the wick so small, when the juice runs out, the temperature protection kicks in almost immediately. There's no fading like with larger atomizers - including the diminutive Manta: it puts out vapor at full steam as long as there's juice in it, and then all of the sudden it cuts out. Neat trick.
- It holds 10 drops of thick VG juice, and 12 drops of thinner VG/PG juice without drowning the coil.
Here it is on my Vaporflask: the Flask looks positively humongous compared to the atomizer
Here's the build:
And here it is with the inner bell on:
If the Mikro RDA proves electrically more reliable than the Manta v2 RDA in the long run, it'll totally live up to my expectations and it will displace it as my favorite atomizer of all time!
