For twelve years, the Half-Life highway has been paved with long stretches of patience, small glimmers of hope, and inevitable disappointment. Series fans have traversed that desolate road ever since Half-Life 2: Episode 2 was released all the way back in 2007, only slowing down to squint at the occasional rumor, a series of mirages that would never materialize into the desired Half-Life 3.
Now, on the brink of 2020, something concrete has finally appeared over the horizon: Half-Life: Alyx, an all-new Half-Life game for VR. It may not be the destination fans initially set out toward, but it's someplace to get out and stretch our legs on a new Half-Life playground.
