So I've got my first TI coil in the mail (28g) and i'm planning on twisting it. Was just woundering what the best/easiest way to clean them? I'd like to hear how others clean them. But honestly if it's pita and being the efficient (lazy) person I am I'll prob just dry burn them. I know I know your not exposed to but I worked with powder titanium dioxide in a cookie factory for yrs and am screwed already (if at all) and hope for no chemical fires. Thanks for any info

If you use it in TC mode it won't allow you to dry burn it will trip the dry coil cutoff.

Anyway if it's just light cleanin I just use a short bristle brush. If it is caked on I try and scrape it with something sharp. If that doesn't do it I build another coil.

Does it burn off if you max it out on ni setting?

nope. tried that it just says "dry coil." just go to lightning vapes and buy 100ft of Ti and rebuild once a week. that is what I'll do now that I found I like 24G Ti

I put my coils on a mod that can read them in power mode and pulse at about 16 watts till they turn blue. Rinse under water, scrub with a little brush, pulse again etc. Good as new!

That would work but outfit me. My atomizers read .09 ohms. I don't know of any mods that will fire that low in power mode.

.09 for a TI coil? How many wraps and what size?

I can understand that for Ni200, but Ti?

Oh and is ti better spaced or solid?

I make mine all touching! Then you can pulse and squeeze to be sure there are no hot spots!

Once you off your TI buy some stainless steel you will be much happier.. Anyway you can pulse the TI just do not burn it red I am not going to get into the temp that creates dangerous toxins.. TI is ok at best SS much better and alot less stressful :)

I agree. I haven't bothered with Ti - or TC - at all since I discovered SS (in the Crown coils). I need to buy some ss!

What grade ss is best? And is the evic vct good on it? And what kinda ohms does it have?

I know Fasttech carries it. There are places here too of course, but I forget where!

Its not what grade is best as much as it is how many wraps are you looking for to get a particular OHM.. To start with get any of the SS grades that you find on http://www.steam-engine.org/coil.asp for me right now I am using 304 SS in all my RDA's both TC and non TC and all my tanks
It works best for me the difference in 304 vs 316 is about a half a wrap not such a big deal on a RDA but fitting a coil on a Tank can be tricky the benefit of SS is much like TI more surface area so you will have to find in time what works best for you :)

My builds are all the same 24G Ti grade 1 dual 4/5 turn spaced coils. .09ohms

I'm hitting them with 80J and 510F on an IPV 3Li.

Its funny how I have everything from cheap ass mods to expensive ass mods but my favorite take around mod is still the IPV3 both the original and the LI..

I have tried 30G Ni200 maybe if I try 24G I will like it more. 24G Ti grade 1 works for me. I will try out SS also but I honestly don't see anything wrong or why people don't like it.

What is it people (you guys) don't like about Ti?

I did love Ti - it was my favorite. I preferred that over Ni200 because it was easier to work with. And then I discovered the Crown with the SS OCC coils, and wondered why I'd ever even bothered with TC. Flavor is off the charts, no dry hits ever (so no need for TC for me). But I need something to build with, so I'll try SS simply because I did find that Ti could misbehave at times, even with perfect coils.

And I should add this is the first time I've ever bothered to pony up for OCC coils, because I always preferred my own builds with rayon.

I like dialing in the perfect temp and having it hit it everytime. I have never had Ti misbehave. I'll try SSone day I get around to buying some. I up for trying new things.

For dual titanium, I like 26AWG, and 8 to 10 wraps depending on the atty. I greatly prefer contact coils when working with titanium, but they do gunk up faster than spaced. Here's a good guide on contact titanium building, by the way.

As far as cleaning, it's easy enough, just like the guide above instructs you when tweaking your coils, use 6 to 8 watts in wattage mode, pulse it until you get a very dull glow, don't ever go for a bright glow, burn off the gunk, take a brush to it inside and out, re-wick, job done. For extra cleaning, wet the brush with isopropyl alchohol, give it a good scrub, then pulse it again a few times to burn off the IPA residue, or just wet the brush with water and use a bit more elbow grease.

For brushes, I really like these, good for 2mm ID up to 3.5mm ID (plus they're REALLY good for taking care of your gums!)

For stainless steel, 430 is my favorite, I think you'll find you have better results in TC mode compared to 304 or 316, since the TCR of 430 is higher and is less effort for the mod to accurately regulate. Unkamen carries 28ga 430SS, which is ideal for twisting, and at $10 for 200 feet, it's dirt cheap too.

Nice brushes that's a big help and about ss in tc mode I don't believe my mod has a ss setting.
