so i jsut got today 10 meters of 28 gauge titanium.. been trying to make a coil and its driving em crazy.... titanium doesnt stay in place and its like a spring... very hard to build with.... bahh
yeah today i got the Wire box from youde and aswell 10mt of titanium gauge 28... first of all u have to do so many wraps... on a dual coil i have to wrap 16 times.... aslo titanium does not stay in place like kanthal when you make a coil and it will like open up like a spring and u are not able to make nice perfect coils... also since it is so big with the heat it then tends to bend and its a total fuckup in my opinion...
i honestly havent tried many times cause i couldnt wait to try out my new griffin tank ( i ended up throwing in a clapton dual coil)... tomorrow i might try again adn report back... but as a first time titanium coil build... it went very bad.... but honestly i dont see it going better cause titanium doesnt stay in shape as kanthal nickel or ss
Titanium is meant to be used with temperature control so it's not really interchangeable with kanthal. The resistance changes dramatically as the wire heats. If you want to use it in a contact coil then it's best to wrap it tightly to begin with. Or wrap on a machine screw for an open coil.
It definitely took some practice (for me) working with titanium, but once you get the hang of it, its not too bad. I LIGHTLY pulse at 7w to get contact coils to keep their shape. Never liked spaced coils much.. too much juice spitback.
