Too much Distilled Water in my juice?

Hi, so I'm new to vaping (started less than a week ago) and was given a Snow Wolf vape with a TFV4 tank using a SMOK dual clapton coil. I decided to get new coil a couple of days ago and have the old one set aside as a backup in case my new coil burns out and I have to wait a few days for new coils to ship.

So here's my dilemma: When my friend gave me the vape, he gave me Naked 3 mg juice, which was fine except for the fact that I was a chain smoker and 3mg wasn't doing much for me, so i went out and bought some 18mg juice that was notably more "watery" than the Naked juice, so I assume the PG content was high.

I mixed 1 part 3mg to 2 parts 18 mg juice because the 18mg juice alone was brutal on my throat and lungs. I did the math and it left me at roughly 13.6 mg of nicotine which was much easier on the throat and lungs but still hit pretty hard. So I had the bright idea to add roughly 20% DW to my new mixture. Now the juice is SUPER watery.

Will this new mixture hurt my coil/cause it to burn out more quickly?

Thanks in advance :)

Probably not, but it might pop a lot.

Thank you!! I just filled my tank with the forementioned liquid and it did pop quite a bit. Gonna give my local vape shop a call and see if they'd be willing to top off my juice with some VG to fix the issue. Hopefully free of charge :(

Yeah, I think a max of 10% DW is what I've seen suggested, for those who want to thin down their high-VG juice. When I was experimenting with diff PG/VG ratios and DW, I think I tried 10%, but I found even that too poppy, and just settled on high-PG.

I just got off the phone with the vape shop manager and he pretty much completely shut me down saying the water is gonna kill my coil. Then again, the shop just opened up so I don't know how knowledgeable they really are, and he was quite rude when I asked if he wouldn't mind topping off my juice for free. Thinking about going and buying some VG oil and adding it myself.. Does this sound viable?

Edit: I turned my wattage up from 50 to 60 and it stopped the popping.. Seems I've solved the problem until my new juice comes in the mail.

Yes, though a) it's not oil, and b) it's going to further dilute the flavor of the juice. Be sure to get VG that is labelled as "USP", to make sure it's safe for vaping; some even says it's kosher, though that seems irrelevant for vaping. ;)

Water won't "kill" a coil, it'll just cause more popping. (real sugars will kill a coil, for sure, and also some organic-derived flavors, causing a buttload of gunking.) He doesn't sound terribly knowledgable to me, which is not at all uncommon in those who work in vape shops, even those who OWN vape shops -- just knowing how to run a business signifies nothing about knowing anything about vaping. Naturally he wants you to think your coil will be killed so you'll buy more coils. ;) He wants your money; whether or not you get a good vape is utterly irrelevant to him.

Thank you so much for the advice and guidance!! It's a relief knowing I won't burn through my coil like the vape shop manager suggested, though I did notice I got the "high temperature" warning after just a few puffs. Seeing as how I'm flat broke I think I'll just leave the juice as is until I get paid. Do you know the types of places that sell USP VG so I can "fix" my blend?

I think some Walmarts do, and a lot of drugstors, but the best price is probably online. if you only need a small amount, I'd check Amazon; I've bought PG and VG from them since i started, and it's excellent quality.

Thanks for the info! It looks like most drugstores in my are only carry the suppository VG and I'll be ordering new juice in a few days so for now, I'll just put up with vaping my watery e-juice lol. It goes a lot quicker but I have a good enough stock of it. Once again, thanks, and blessings to you!

10% is way too much even with max VG juices that you don't vape. Naked is 70/30 and you should have added VG not DW . now that you've diluted it, topping off with VG is pointless by now lol.
You losing more of your actual nic and flavors than what's intended here. Some flavoring can thin out a juice, or make it look thinner, especially citrus but its still 70/30 or 80/20 at the end.
If you felt that it made your juice thin (mouth feel) you could have added other things to it. I still don't understand why someone would grab distilled water right from the start. I do diy and that's the last thing I ever grab and more of an emergency for me, when I made something like 96/4 juices and forgot to re wick, then I'll thin the juice, but with just 1-3% depending how bad it is lol.

My diy base is max vg + 4% dw. Only pg is from flavors. Took some experimenting but this has proved optimal for me in regards to wicking, flavor, and lung hit. Started down the dw road to relieve heavy lung felling and is does help. 7% dw helped more but made the coils too noisy.

a "fix" might be to leave the bottle uncapped, in a warm area, which will cause the DW to evaporate in about a day or 2. Depending how warm your warm area is. A day in a sunny window would do it.
