Warning: full spoilers for the episode follow...
Well, that happened.
"Night Finds You" ended with a literal and figurative bang, leaving the viewer to wonder if this season just took a shocking – and in some ways energizing – left turn. Is it possible that Colin Farrell’s inclusion in the series was an elaborate set-up to throw us off the scent of the genuine crux of this story? Perhaps city manager Ben Caspere’s murder isn’t the one we’re meant to hook on to, or at the very least, not the only one.
In many ways, I’d hope not, as Farrell’s character has been, for me, the most magnetic and enthralling to watch. His suburban lawn beat-down brought the premiere episode to life. Sure, it may have been a wee bit over-the-top, but it was an electric and satisfyingly ballsy sequence. I mean, who DOES that? What kind of a lunatic? Yet, Farrell still managed to register as a flesh-and-blood man rather than a soulless beast – a fairly impressive feat. So it would be a shame to lose him as a key player in this story.
