Artist Stephen Bissette is probably best known for illustrating Alan Moore's Saga of the Swamp Thing run, where the duo fundamentally transformed the character and created the iconic anti-hero magician John Constantine for good measure. But Bissette is also known for creating what may well be the greatest dinosaur comic of all time in Tyrant. That series is making a comeback in 2026 thanks to Lighthouse Comics.

IGN can exclusively debut a new preview of the Tyrant hardcover edition, along with previously revealed cover art and images of some of the Kickstarter campaign's bonus items. Check it all out in the slideshow gallery below:

Tyrant is written and illustrated by Bissette. The book follows a Tyrannosaurus rex as it fights to survive in the late Cretaceous period. The series originally ran from 1994 to 1996 and was published through Bissette's Spiderbaby Graphix publishing imprint. In 1995, Tyrant was nominated for an Eisner Award for Best New Series.

Lighthouse Comics is now crowdfunding an oversized hardcover collection of Tyrant. The book will be available in two editions. Stephen R. Bissette’s Tyrant: The Original Art Edition collects all four issues and clocks in at over 100 pages long. Stephen R. Bissette’s Tyrant: The Complete Edition adds in a slipcase and roughly 100 additional pages of bonus material. That includes previously unseen artwork as well as bonus essays by Rick Veitch, Jim Rugg, and paleontologist Dr. Michael Ryan.

The Kickstarter campaign for Stephen Bissette's Tyrant is live now.
