Full Disclosure:
Let’s get all the disclosures out of the way. This RDA was sent to me directly from UD specifically for the purposes of this review. This will not in any way, shape, or form cause me to give this mod a favorable review or change my opinion in any way.
First Impression Out Of The Box:
This looks like a really nice RDA. It has an Ultem top cap that will probably dissipate the heat well. The drip tip looks really comfortable. Machining seems to be really clean and well done. No oil or burrs were present. One wash and rinse and you are ready to vape.
What’s In The box:
In the box you get the Skywalker RDA, extra post screws, 2 Clapton coils, and spare o'rings.
From Top To Bottom:
Starting at the top the wide bore drip tip is stainless steel and does not have an oring. The o'ring that keeps the drip tip snug is housed inside of the Ultem top cap. The Ultem top cap is removable. It is really tight at first so make sure you lube it up good with some juice. It has 3 air slots that are adjustable and you can run this RDA in dual in single coil mode. Even though the drip tip is made of stainless steel the Ultem top cap definitely does the job while chain vaping and the drip tip does stay cool.
Airflow is provided through the side and wide open it's a very loose, smooth, draw that can be cut down to a nice restrictive lung hit. Adjusting the airflow is a bit of a pain because the Ultem top cap really does not slide around freely. So, you have to take the top cap out, line things up the way you like and then vape. The good news is once you find your sweet spot the top cap is not moving. Plus, there really is no need to remove the top cap because of the wide bore drip tip you can just drip right down the middle of it.
The Deck:
The deck on the Skywalker has massive 4mm wide post holes with equally massive post screws. You can really fit some big exotic coils in this bad boy. It is a dual post vertically slotted deck so the leads on a dual coil setup have to share some space but there is plenty there to share. The Skywalker has a really deep 4mm juice well so you are not constantly dripping.
The sleeve of the RDA is stainless steel and has 2 horizontal slots on each side for airflow. It is also well machined and makes a nice snug fit with the base of the RDA. The tension on the sleeve is not too tight and not too loose it has just the right amount of tension. The base of the deck has a gold plated 510 pin. There is some Star Wars branding on the sleeve. It includes a Jedi Order symbol with 2 crossed Light Sabers behind it. Now I know there are a lot of Star Wars fans out there and I am not here to pass judgement on how a company runs their business. While I am not crazy about the branding or the name it's not my job to be the Trademark Infringement Police. I’m just a reviewer that reviews what they put in front of me but I did feel like I had to mention it.
Building And Wicking:
Building on the Skywalker is a breeze with the huge post holes UD provides. Even exotic coils with wide leads fit with no problem. The grub screws are flat head and of really nice quality. The actual heads on the screws are almost beefy enough to unscrew without a screw driver. Wicking it up is just as easy. Simply place your cotton in the deep juice well and you are ready to vape.
But Deuces, How Does She Vape:
Well, I have to say that I get a really nice, high quality, vape from this RDA. It sits flush on all my mods and it can really chuck the clouds. UD was also kind enough to provide me with some of their Kanthal Stapled Staggered Fused Clapton coils. I have them in the Skywalker right now ohming out at .11 at 95 watts and the vape I get is just glorious. Thick, lush, dense, flavorful clouds for as far as the eye can see. This RDA is definitely a winner.
Conclusion:
Branding aside, this is a really good looking RDA. It looks great on all of my mods. If you are a Star Wars fan this is probably a must have for you. Slap this RDA on your mod and you will vape like a Jedi, lol. Seriously though, this is a really nice RDA that vapes really well. I have been using it non stop for two days and I really like it. It is definitely DeucesJack approved. As for the availability of it I do not know when it will be officially released. I know I have a very early one because my serial number is 22.
