A 2 battery mod where the batteries are supposed to be in parallel. Unfortunately the mod battery slots are labelled as if in series with the offending moulded + and - markings covered by QC labels. At least one mod has been supplied without the coverup markings with the obvious result that the user fitted the batteries in series with the immediate result - meltdown. Luckily he was using batteries with safe chemistry. Others may not be so lucky.

Thanks for the warning!

I just took a look at the link.

It supposed to have reverse battery protection.

Damn! That's scary!
Easy mistake for someone to make too since it's more common to place batteries in series when using a high wattage regulated device. Never took a close look at this mod while browsing FT. Interesting that it uses batteries in parallel, which is not a bad idea since many 50W (and higher) boxes typically run a single 18650.

reverse battery connection would not work when 2 batteries are involved in this case. If both batteries were inserted reversed then reverse battery protection would operate. If one battery was inverted then there is a short circuit around the batteries.

according to other pics they had stickers put in to represent proper battery placement, stickers that can easily fall off. Looks like if they're gonna build a box make sure that all the labels are right. That's just laziness and oops, we should've thought of that while we were making it so lets use a cheap sticker.
