Too bad this "science" is 100% utter bullshit.
I will now explain why.

"Researchers used serum cotinine, a metabolite of nicotine, as a biological marker of exposure to second-hand smoke and linked National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data to overall and cause-specific mortality in 20,175 non-smokers."

The problem is the presence of nicotine may have nothing to do with second hand smoke and since nicotine is not a carcinogen and does not cause all the scary diseases named in the study the presence of nicotine doesn't really mean shit.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cotinine

"However, nicotine replacement therapies (i.e., gum, lozenge, patch, inhaler, and nasal spray) used to help tobacco users quit contain nicotine. Use of nicotine replacement therapy will result in a positive test for cotinine. Therefore, the presence of cotinine is not a conclusive indication of tobacco use"

So how the fuck can this be true?

"Specifically, increases in serum cotinine were statistically significantly associated with lung cancer, all cancers, and heart disease."

Maybe these subjects like eating plants from the nightshade family:
