Unsafe setups

So for the last 3 months or so at the shop I work at I've been noticing more and more customers coming in searching for clones to run their sub tanks on. I personally don't have a problem with some clone attys but I steer well away from clone mods, it's just me, however quite a few of them have purchased hybrid style tube mods. This bothers me greatly since one of the customers I encountered had a 49? (an authentic at that) that he purchased off of a pal of his who was in need of cash for cheap. Something struck a nerve in me, for at this point I had never seen the mod in person, nor knew of the real potential dangers involving hybrids. I spoke with him for quite awhile and it was clear he had no real interest in vaping and just wanted to sell the mod after buying it from his pal. I forked over 50 for it just to get it retired, since he was trying to use it with an Atlantis v1 with the .3 coil installed. I really don't recommend the .3 coils in a v1 Atlantis nor to run it on a device that isn't regulated, but to my dismay he really didn't drink in any of my safety instructions, most do but not him. Not long after I started seeing people who were venting their batteries or flat out blowing them up with hybrid style mods and sub tanks.

This combination for me has been one of the most dangerous and unsafe set ups I have seen come through the shop, my question is, what has yours been? (one that you've seen someone running)

When I first started using mech mod's. I went to a local shop and I was sold a mod with a hybrid thingy and I was not given any instruction. I am glad I knew to research before I blew my face off!

I keep seeing SMPL clones with various sub-ohm tanks on them. We warn them of the risks assosiated them right away and suggest a regulated mod.

The important thing is to make sure the postitive pin in the tank is sticking out further than the 510 threads. As long is that is the case, and the battery is not damaged (or top pushed in) than hybrids are not dangerous at all. It comes down to understanding how everything works. I personally think it is pretty simple, but apparently some people just do not get it. Unfortunately, the idiots who do not understand any of this will probably bring down harsher regulation from the FDA and the government to "protect" everyone from themselves.

Very true, however most of the sub ohm tanks do not have an adjustable positive pin on their 510 and most sit near flush. those that dont are easily pushed in by over tightening the tank. It's not the setup that is dangerous it's the lack of knowledge.
