About Science 2.0 ® And Scientific Blogging ®
By Administrator | October 1st 2006 01:00 AM | Print | E-mail | Track Comments

Science 2.0 was created in 2006 to modernize science communication, publishing, collaboration and public participation. In creating Science 2.0 we set out to accomplish the following:

Create a place where world-class scientists write articles and discuss issues without being filtered by size or editorial limitations, where there are no political or cultural agendas, and the audience can read great science directly from the sources and maybe learn some new things.

Create an infrastructure where actual collaboration can occur using customized tools.

Create an open publishing model. The old model of subscriptions is no longer viable, since government has taken control of academic research - taxpayers have paid for the research so they should be allowed to read it without paying. Open access, where the cost burden is shifted to scientists instead, is a good first step but Science 2.0 embraces a true open publishing model, where readers do not have to pay to read and scientists do not have to pay to publish.

Encourage increased participation in the science endeavor by those outside science. SETI @home, GalaxyZoo, Fold.it and other tools show the public will help if the tools are there. SeeThe FAQ for more information written by our community moderators.

A further danger is that several species of Bacillus, as well as some Stapphylococccus epidermidis and Staphylococcus hominis strains can reduce nitrates to nitrites, which can potentially lead to formation of carcinogenic, tobacco-specific N'-nitrosamines within the tobacco products.

Huh !? Dr. Moron claims we're using tobacco leaf in our vaporizers ! LMFAO !!!

Perhaps instead of engaging in raw speculation, the good Doctor could do some actual research, i.e. get some vapers to lend him gear that's been used for a good long while, swab it, and see if there's any harmful bugs growing in there?

Personally, I rather doubt there will be, for the reasons y'all mentioned above.

That's not to say I'll share my vapes with someone with obvious cold sores, but still....

If the FDA can decide whatever they want without doing any actual research, why should he be any different?

This just in... 20 seconds after you completely disinfect your kitchen counter, the bacterial colonies are already repopulating. An hour later, they're proliferating. Germs are everywhere people, and you can not win a genocidal war against them, deal with it. Clean yo shit, no worries.

Wait I'm going to play scientist and do a study. Ok how many of us feel a thousand percent better, healthier and breathe better since vaping ? Yes most of us ! Study over vaping is better for you than smoking. Jesus I didn't even have to get a degree for that one LMAO. Don't even let me go there and mention what you might end up eating during sex, doesn't stop you from doing it lol. I'm disgusting right? But 100% on the money !

You want to make a study?
Take a group of people, oh let's say every single member of this forum and ask them if they feel better or worst since they started vaping.

Better yet, give them physicals versus smokers. Or request pre and post quitting medical records anonymously. I'd say okay if my doc asked if he could submit my records anonymously. They'd be baffling I think, since nothing testable has really changed and since I never go to the doctor for simple URIs, that count wouldn't be in there, but I haven't had a cold in years. Sniffles here and there, no full blown colds. My seasonal allergies are worse though. <shrug>
