Uwell Crown tank getting hot!!

I am using the Uwell Crown tank on the eleaf istick 40W TC using Uwell TC coils. Currently the one that was in the tank box. I am having a problem with my tank getting pretty hot, and my istick getting kinda warm. Is this normal? I'm running at 500F. The flavor really isn't that good either.

That tank is too much for that little Istick. I run my Ni coils at 50 watts and 500F, which is more than the Istick can do wattage wise. The flavor really comes to life when it has enough power, otherwise it's a rather pathetic vape!

I use my crown on sig 75 and it's working pretty hard. I had my ni200 coil at 50 watts,520 degrees,so you probably aren't getting enough power to bring out the flavor profile. I just read the 1.2 coils,are great at under 30 watts. I'm gonna try them

Thermal conductivity. 40 watts is on the low end of where this tank begins to shine. I'd look at using a higher Ohm coil on it.

I talk to the guys that sold it to me and he told me to try the 0.5 ohm coil (non TC) that came with it at 30W. I'm going to order some 1.2 ohms though because even at that setting it is still getting hot.

the thing we all need to learn is dual vs single coils

the crown maganus/starre tfv4 and others use dual coils

while STM and many others use single coils

a single coil .5 is fine on a 40w device
a single .15 ni coil is too

but dual coil anything is gonna need MINIMUM 50W to shine

The crown nickle coils are dual. The .25 and .5 can be had in single or dual. And the 1.2 is single.

I think your wrong there, according to Uwells website all coils are dual except for the 1.2, which is single. Look at the back of the yellow sleeve that came with the packaging.

Yep, I knew the dual in 1/4 and 1/2, thought they had single too. My bad.

I ordered some 1.2 ohm crown coils today. I can't buy a bigger mod yet, I don't have the money. :oops: So I will just do the 1.2 ohm until I can buy a bigger mod. I'm sad I got the istick 40TC with my bday money. I kinda feel like I lost money.

You live, you learn. It could have been a lot worse. The 1.2s are damn good. 10-30watts

many people with the crown claim they love th SS coils alot in power mode and that using them with TC almost seems unneeded

So if that is the case
and 40w is enough to drive those 1.2 ohm coils and you like them

then the istick 40w was not a waste at all

You are absolutely right Matt..
I really like the .25 ss coil in power mode
at 62-65w on my 100w IPV4.. its hard to believe the clouds and flavor produced is from a tank as it rivals my best RDA's...
I tried the .15 ni200 but didn't like it compared to the .25 ...
If the 1.2 coils have good airflow I might try them out on a low powered Provari V2...I like the clean flavor ss produces vs Kanthel...

I personally don't get the fixation on power only, or thinking you must vape half a ml per hit to taste your juice. I've got iSub tanks, a Kanger Nano, various RDAs, tat only get 20-25 watts or so, and they too get used most every day. That's what my iStick 30 watts are for.
And I still consider the 40TC a bargain. A $25 40 watt knockabout that also does passable "entry level" tem control. No regrets.

this could be a case of get it and trade away the coils i dont want This one is tempting me.

But I have to wait to see if the D2 dries out form its bath first. Its now resting in some rice.

I'm in a contest for the eleaf istick 60W TC, but I never win those things. What should the 1.2ohm coils be ran at? 20W/25W? I don't want to burn them up, lol!!

I didn't really read all of the posts but, yes, two things why it is getting hot: heat transfer from the tank to mod and your mod is overworking itself and there is no ventilation for the mod itself to cool down fast enough for chain vaping. Get a mod that can support higher watts will be a good idea as the chip is not working itself too much. Ipv d2 is a good tc mod that can support up to 75 watts. I don't use mine often but when I do it handle itself pretty good with out getting too hot.

I know its a month late in this lobby but here is my experience if anyone is still keeping tabs. I am running the crown with .5 dual coils on my EVIC VT at 51W. The tank gets really hot but the batteries are barely luke warm. I do get a lot of pop and spit as well. I will upgrade to a 100w+ mod soon and see what the Crown does.

I think it's normal for the tank to get hot. I run the.25 coil at 65 to 70 watts and the base gets pretty warm after 3 or 4 hits.. however I run the crown on the dual batt 100w IPV4... the mod itself and the batteries stay cool. Just my 2 cents this morning...lol
