Uwell Rafale Spitback Removal

Hey all, so came across vapin fagan's vid on removing the anti-spitback feature from the rafale tank and thought, what the hell, why not give it a shot...The flavor thus far had done nothing to impress me so it was a risk I was willing to take.

Real easy to do, took a couple minutes with needle nose pliers and some twisting to pop the curved metal piece out. Rinsed everything out thoroughly and put it back together. Filled from the bottom since I already had lower off and top fill is semi-messy with dripper bottle (haven't had any leaking with top fill though).

Right off the bat I can say that flavor is certainly improved, as well the draw is much smoother. Additionally, I was able to get rid of the tip condom as the drip tip no longer heats up like before.

Made a meh tank a little more loveable in my opinion. Certainly worth doing if you already own one. If you haven't picked one up yet, not a bad tank especially for the clouds it puts out and with this little flavor helping trick it certainly makes it better. I picked mine up from fuggin vapors for $22ish and am much happier with my initial purchase having completed this little modification....and I should mention, no spitback.

I bought a Rafale and was seriously disappointed in it which is surprising because I love the Crown. I gave it over a week of trying then chunked it into the junk box and replaced it with a Tobeco Super tank.

I hear ya, I was expecting a lot more from it right out of the gate but was disappointed. Removed the spiral spitback guard and it is a whole new tank! Flavor is far improved, draw is much better, and you don't need to use the drip condom. Additionally I found that the .2 coil I had installed is hitting much much better at 90ish watts than previous.

I got a couple of supertanks in yesterday and have been breaking them in slowly. Was going to retire the rafale as well, but having taken a few minutes to do the modification it kept its place in my daily rotation for a bit longer. Give it a shot and let me know what you think.

I'd be all over it if it had the same top fill of the crown.

yeah, the topfill does suck....better with a small tipped syringe, but I often find myself bottom filling for ease and speed. It hasn't taken my crowns out of rotation by any means, but still a much nicer tank with the spitback guard removed. All in all I consider it not bad for $20 to add to my collection. Hopefully Uwell with wise up a bit and do a v2 with the crown topfill design...

The only reason I have not tried it is because of the different, top fill design. I love how my Crown top fill is, but I've read a few complaints on this one.

I have literally bent a pair of needle nose trying to do this. Is there a specific technique I need to use?

Did you try to "push" it through instead of prying, twisting, and cussing?

Pivots and slides right down the side - the only flat tips I have are jeweler's screwdrivers, anyway.

oh definitely don't use those.
I was referring to standard size.
Ya have a 16D nail?
Maybe a heavy duty metal ink pen that you don't like?
Your neighbors toolbox have anything? lol

Okay, I used the largest flathead jeweler's screwdriver I own, cross-wise to the spitback guard. FINALLY, after half an hour of careful to frantic tapping, it popped out. A thoughough cleaning, and... yes! I can verify that the vape at 90w is equal in flavor to what it had been at 125w, plus cooler, and actually has denser clouds.
