If you still haven’t seen V/H/S: Viral, the 2014 installment of the V/H/S horror series, the anthology film’s producers are hoping the addition of a brand new segment, dubbed "Gorgeous Vortex," will convince you to go out and rent or buy the DVD or Blu-ray.
IGN’s Chris Tilly enjoyed V/H/S: Viral’s three main vignettes, but lamented its haphazard framing device. "Gorgeous Vortex," which does not appear on streaming versions, plays after the end credits in home video releases, perhaps providing the perfect palate cleanser to wash away the taste of the "Vicious Circles" wraparound.
Interestingly, "Vortex" isn’t found footage, typically a requisite for the series. While it features plenty of shots that could come from security footage or the like, most of the short film is shot on professional high-speed digital as evidenced by the steady photography, pristine focus and occasional super slow-motion.
