image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg Hello all,

I recently traded my Hohm Slice for a VF Stout and received it today. The Slice is a very cool mod and extremely innovative but it just was not for me. The main thing was, it just didn't feel comfortable in my hand was large in all the wrong ways.

Right off the bat I was impressed by the Stouts size, shape and appearance. It's much smaller than you would imagine a 26650 mod would be but a touch heavy. The build quality feels and looks of high quality and all the pertinent areas seem solid and reinforced. The battery door seems like it will hold up over time and the 510 is smooth and everything has screwed down so far. There is some play with buttons (my biggest gripe with the mod) but they are clickey and easy to find.

I've mainly been using the mod with one of my Tsunami's with stainless duel fused claptons in TC mod and so far it's working great. At 60watts, 420 degrees I get a smooth, warm and consistent vape. Other than driving, when use a tank and normally on the RX200, I've used the stout all day on the above settings. Although I don't know what the standard is, the battery life seems to be good and a single 26650 (purple efest) gave me about 7.5 hours of vaping. When I put the battery on the charger it read 3.43v; not sure if that is being efficient. I tried the single 18650 sleeve out and much to my surprise there was hardly any rattle.

Over all I really like and considering the increased battery life, it will probably replace my Evic VTC mini in the daily line up. Tomorrow the wife and I are going hiking and then canoeing so it will be a good day to put it through some more paces. I posted some pics below comparing it to a couple of the Stouts sister mods.

Oh, quick question... Do I need to lock the resistance in TC mode? I recently found out I don't need to on the Evic and was wondering if it's the same for the stout.... Thanks.

Nice mod! BTW, in TC mode it's always best to lock the resistance of your coils at room temp to give the mod a stable point of reference for calculating the temp since the resistance changes as the wire heats. I have two eVic VTC minis, and always lock the resistance on them. JMHO, and as always YMMV.

No need to lock with that chip.

You don't have to lock with that board.
In fact, like the DNA board, it's best to NOT lock resistance. Those boards have a heartbeat and keep a running tack of resistance; Which, helps it on accuracy. Locking the resistance is more or less a feature to help compensate for when you have a temperamental build.

Interesting.I guess I learned something new. I was speaking with the experience I have with my other mods. I'll have to try it on my eVic.

Give it a shot.
That's why you see me stress ,"a strong solid connection." Its also the premise for why evolv did not include the option to lock on the early dna40s.
They failed to recognize how irradic building with a metal as soft as nickel can be, though.

When you try it keep that all in mind, and make sure the 510 and post holes are all good and tight too.

No worries with that. If anything gets the least bit flaky on the eVic, it jumps back into power mode to let you know it.

So I took the stout out with me on a long and activity filled day. I would normally take the VTC mini but since I'm lookng to fill that roll with the stout, I took it along. It's definitely small but a bit heavy and kinda rolls around in the pocket. Despite that, it was not uncomfortable at all and I practically forgot it was there.

After that we went for a canoe ride and I was able to sneak in stealthy vapes without any of the other families noticing since it pretty much is concealed in the fist. The best part is I didn't have to change batteries once which is the only reason I would carry it rather than the VTC mini. Although it seems to be working great, I plan on doing some dry cotton burn test with a stainless build, then test out some Ti and Ni coils I never use.

Does anyone own the VF lite? The last thing I need is another single 18650 but the stout just seems so lonely....

I don't own the Lite but I own the 2 Classics. Don't let the perceived size fool you. The Classic is a very pocketable mod. The curve in it was designed so it would fit neatly in the pocket of your jeans. As far as the Tc goes I can't comment on Ti but I run my Crowns on the Classic with the Ni200 coil all the time with no issues.

I've always liked the flask models but from what I've been told they don't work well for lefties and finger firing.

I have the dna133 flask enroute. I'm right handed but usually Thumb fire lefty.
So jealous. I guess I need to hold one to really know. I really want to get a VS133 but I need to get over the price first. Looking forward to seeing your flask when it comes in.

Any stout owners experiencing getting kicked out of temp mode? I just happened a little while ago. I switched the mod off to put in my pocket and when I turned it back on to vape, I got the boot.

I've had the lite for about a week, and very impressed. Using it constantly. Received a Homh Wrecker G2 refurb this weekend, need to spend some time figuring out the chip, but it will not be a pocket mod. Considering picking up another flask

Welp, looks like the honeymoon is over. I'm having some issues with the stout and its really frustrating. I keep getting "weak battery" errors on batteries that are more than half way full and getting kicked out of TC mode. I've tried it with a variety of tanks and RDA's and have the same results. I emailed wismec but I'm not expecting a response. Anyone have these issues or experience with VF / Wismec customer service?

First of all don't deal with Wismec. Call VF first. They have great CS and from what I remember a actual person answers the phone.

Thanks for the tip Jack. I did just that and they are sending me a prepaid shipping label and replacing the stout. Thats amazing customer service for the vape game.

The Stout has an amp limit. So when you try and vape ober a certain temperature or watt it will read battery weak unless you lower the watts. I hated this on the stout and traded it away happily.

I generally don't go past 65 watts in power mode and 50 in temp mode. Anything past 65 and I get the message. Oh well, as long as the new one doesn't kick me out of TC I'll be happy:

A Joyetech board combined with a 26650 battery = trade it while it's still new in the box :D:giggle::devil:

PS You should have picked up a VT133 when they were in stock at Ecig.com and you wouldn't be having these problems (I'm just messing around buddy, well sort of :D)

Cheers,
Steve

As far as 26650 mods go the Hohmtech Slice is the top dog in my book. Just wish the paint was better but man does this lil baby hit. Come on Steve, time to get you an HT mod and bring you over to the dark side. Lmfao.

No sir you are completely right. I really like the form factor and the TC is great when its working. However, I now have a bad taste in my mouth and don't think I'll keep it. If I do sell it, the proceeds will most likely go towards another DNA.

Ok when I read that I laughed. I'm not sure if you were trying to be funny, but for whatever reason it made me smile and laugh (thanks I needed that, I feel like I'm being grumpy today). It's been really hot and humid here the last few days and not cooling down much at night (no central AC for me :().

Cheers,
Steve

Glad I could help but I'm serious about it. I got $20 on it, who's with me?

I appreciate the gesture but please don't do that. I'll get to things eventually. I'm sometimes just caught up with other things combined with being set in my ways. I'll come around eventually (probably, maybe :D:giggle:). See I'm less grumpy already lol.

Cheers,
Steve

Just a quick update. I spoke with Matt from VF (really good dude) again today and he offered to send me a shipping label so the mod can be replaced, which is great. However, they only have the white ones in stock which I found odd considering they make the damn things.

So I decide I would try to re-install the firmware and so far it's been working great. I tried it with multiple tanks, RDA's and no issues. I still get the weak battery error but only when I use the lite purple efest. The only other battery I have at the moment is the darker purple efest and that one will drain down to a respectable level before displaying the error. I'm going to order some new 26650's tonight based on mooches recommendations. Has anyone used one of the Hohm Tech batteries yet?

I have the HT batteries and they perform on par with the black Basen. Just get which ever one is cheaper.
