Finally the government comes out with accurate information.
That a full 20 days and four deaths after vapers on this forum had already identified the problem.

Could any of those 4 deaths been avoided if the government had went to the media right away and told them to broadcast "don't vape ANYTHING that you buy off the street" like they are saying now?

Maybe.

Read about it here!

I wish the stupid forum would blacklist KETO crap and chingrish glyphs - it would make for fewer ignores.

Meanwhile, if you have to be told not to eat shit on the sidewalk or vape shit off the street... Darwin Awards.

Hopefully, they prosecute the silly bastards - and investigate their parents as well.

Now that the truth is out can the damage be undone?

Thank you, 5150. Ive been hearing this "I told you vaping was dangerous" BS for a few days now from family members, and I knew good and well that this odd string of deaths/illnesses was most likely something fishy, ie, THC or crap bought off the street (like you mention). Although I understand they are saying not all of the info is in yet, most of us know what's going on here. It just doesn't make sense that millions upon millions of people vape every day for years, and then mid 2019 hits and poof -- a string of deaths happen and all the sudden the headlines pour in, "extra, extra! vaping kills people! we knew it all along!"

I don't know, for the life of me, why many in the media and (many people in general) seem to want to discredit vaping and get people BACK onto cigarettes. It's really insane.

I'd bet money the people who are becoming ill or dying from this stuff don't read government warnings. And if they just happen to see one they wouldn't say "Oh my, the government says I shouldn't do this so i won't."

I may be wrong, but probably not.

Well said! I don’t know why people are like that either. It’s like on YT in the comment section of a vaping video. There will be people who are thrilled to have quit smoking by vaping, and non vaping assholes chime in with “it’s the same thing as smoking, you’re still addicted”. Or, “we don’t know what’s in it” or “it causes popcorn lung”, blah blah blah. (Why so negative, folks?!)
Like you’re not supposed to quit smoking in a really enjoyable and cool way. And really be able to stay off the cigs, too.

People tend to favor being generally uninformed about anything that doesn't affect them or isn't being talked about in their immediate circle. Most people couldn't tell you what the FDA is and who is the commissioner much less be bothered by what they are doing and the FDA likes it that way.

Facebook groups are a decent way to gauge what it looks like in the wild. It is unfortunate that the real sound logic groups are also the lowest participation and least in need of education on the matter. The ones most in need are too busy chasing around whatever shiny of the day item to be bothered by facts and data about things that affect them.

See convos that start like this:

Hey Man, you hear about the FDA trying to kill vaping?
No man, did you see (insert vape shop here) has a sale on Smok Mag for like $2 + shipping?
Right on, where?
