Vaporesso Armour GS
Intro.jpg
Sincerely, this Pod-Mod caught my eye as soon as I saw it, thanks to its aesthetics. I know there are many such devices, but I really liked this one enough to say, I want to try it. Then it was when I realized it was from Vaporesso, a somewhat nostalgic brand since a year ago, when I started vaping, I remember starting with a Vaporesso Luxe XR Max, a pod that was really a beast. That's where my love for Vaporesso comes from, although if something bad needs to be said, it will be said.

In short, this is a Pod-Mod with a 18650 battery, obviously not included. A cartridge that adopts the GTX coils of Vaporesso, a capacity of 5mL (which really runs out quickly). And what to say about the aesthetics, simply, I'm in love with it.

Let's move on to the review, not without first thanking Kavis from Sourcemore for making this review possible. You can visit his site and learn more about the Vaporesso Armour GS, plus he has provided me with a code (ARGS) that lowers the price to $28.69, really a bargain for the device it is.

Packaging

It is possible to easily appreciate the usual Vaporesso packaging design. We can see a box that combines black with green, giving an elegant touch and really nice, to lie.

In the center of the front we find a picture of the device, in this case, coincides with the chosen color so you could say that there is an individual packaging for each color. At the top we find some branding and it is indicated that the battery is not included. Finally, at the bottom we see the model of the device, Armour GS.

On the back of the box we can find the usual. At the top we find some specifications along with the contents of the box, which is quite interesting.

In the box;
1*Armour GS Mod
1*Armour G Series POD DTL
1*GTX 0.15Ω Mesh Coil
1*GTX 0.3Ω Mesh Coil
1*Type-C Cable
1*User Manual
1*Warranty Card

As we can see, the contents are quite complete. One thing that is missing is the MTL pod. Indeed, Vaporesso has designed a specific pod for MTL but it is only included in a specific packaging of the Armour G version, which we will discuss in more detail later. I really believe that it doesn't cost anything to add an extra pod, especially if it will provide a different vaping experience.

Once we open the box we find the device and its accessories encased in a custom-made plastic case.

On the left we see the Armour GS. On the right we can see the spare coil and the charging cable.

I really appreciate when brands take care of the packaging and honestly, I prefer a “rubber” or “pad” case, as I find it more elegant and gives a sense of quality to the device.

Device Inspection

On the front of the device we find a 0.96 inch TFT Screen, which we will discuss later. In the same area we find a button, which has engraved in its center the Vaporesso logo. In addition, it is painted orange and I think the combination with the green is spectacular. At the top we find the cartridge which we will talk about later in more detail. Just before the charging port we find the lock and power up/down buttons. Finally, at the bottom we find the charging port, which has a fast charge to 5V/2A. However, I and many others recommend charging the 18650 or other batteries in a specific charger and not in the device itself.

I don't know if you can see the side of the button in this image, but it has a perfect curvature for your finger. It reminds me a lot of GeekVape devices, as they always implement this shape in their actuators. The feel is very good, it has a relatively long travel compared to other kits and I love that.

Let's move on to the display area. Here we will talk a bit about the UI generally.

To begin with, we have three different UIs, each focused on a different audience;
- General; In it we find a simple design, where we are shown all the basics we need to know. In it we find the vape mode, the remaining battery, the power to use, a lock that indicates the button lock, the resistance of the coil, a puff counter and duration of puffs and finally a small animation.

- Race Car (by far my favorite, apart from loving vaping, I love the car); The information is practically the same, but changes the way it is shown to us. Now the power indicator, apart from being in numerical form, we find as if it were a speed or rev counter of a car. In addition, the simple animation of before is exchanged by a car, that really looks like a Lamborghini.

- Rim; The only thing that varies is the font with which is written the power and the animation, in this case it is a kind of tire that rotates continuously.

Really, I love these little details, and more to me, I'm an automotive lover, although the UI is really subjective. Add to this that each UI has an animation when the puff is taken and that it can be easily turned off.

Let's talk now about the different actions we can perform with the button combinations;
- 5 Clicks on the power button and we turn on or turn off the device.
- 3 Clicks on the power button and we will enter the configuration menu, which we will talk more about later.

The power up and down buttons are clear what they are for but let's specify a little. These buttons will increase or decrease the power of the device (in watts) in increments of one, up to a maximum of 80W and a minimum of 5W.

In addition, we have a lock button that is really quite useful. It will completely lock the device. This is really useful when you have to put it in your pocket or backpack quickly and you don't want to turn it off, just hit the switch and it's locked.

As for the menu, there is enough to talk for a while. If we hit the fire button 3 times, as mentioned before, we will access it, where we will find;

- Settings; In this tab we can set or remove the Smart mode (which automatically adjusts the wattage for the coil). We can reset the puff counter. It is also possible to adjust the brightness of the display. We can turn off the LED, although we have not yet reached that part, you will see later what I mean. Finally, we can activate or deactivate the animation. And now yes, finally, we can reset all these settings to default.
- Themes; Here we will be able to change between the three previously mentioned.
- Watt Lock; This option is really brilliant, it locks only the wattage up and down buttons.

All this is as far as configuration is concerned, now let's talk about the vape modes;

- Eco; This is supposed to be the battery saving mode, I haven't really found it to be much more efficient than the others. If we want to save battery we simply turn off the LED, remove the animation and lower the brightness of the screen.
- Press; This is the option that every consumer of this device is likely to use. It is an option that pulses the coil to supposedly produce more flavor and vapor. I really do not know if it is efficient but it is the option that I like the most.

This is the part where we will talk about the wonderful LED. As you can see in the picture, when the device is powered on or the screen is on, an LED will light up on both sides. This LED is orange in color and follows the futuristic aesthetics of this device. I really like it and it gives a very nice aesthetic touch, however, it is easily deactivated.

In this same image we can see the back of the device. This is covered with a body and different seams that give extra comfort when holding it in hand. I can add that although the texture of the “skin” is not at all bad, I am not convinced. It really looks like a kind of rubber, let's say so, and it doesn't feel natural at all. Even so, it is still extremely comfortable in hand. This leather is a slightly dark color to that of the device and in this edition, has the seams of “gold” color with a kind of glitter, although almost unnoticeable.

As for the shape and materials of the Armour GS, it is easily observable its cylindrical shape but, extended on one side, that of the front face. Therefore we say that it combines a cylindrical shape with a rectangular shape, but with many curves and extrusions that give it a really nice aesthetic. Honestly it gives me some vibes to the game Cyberpunk 2077, I do not know if it just happens to me, but when I see it, I see the LEDs and aesthetics, it totally reminds me of that game.

I must admit that I was extremely foolish to receive this device with this part of the Armour GS. Both myself and my girlfriend, who was standing next to me, were trying to figure out how to open the darn battery compartment. I know it really looks like the one on the GeekVape Z200, which I've reviewed as well, but that one has a little slider that I couldn't quite find on this one here.

After trying several ways to open it and trying to document myself, I finally figured it out, after feeling stupid for what could have been about five minutes. We simply rest the palm of our finger on the textured part and push towards the opposite side of the hinge. I'm sure this door won't fail for a while, as it takes quite a bit of force to open it (or at least it does on my unit). After opening, slide the battery in and you're ready to vape.

Around this small (and cursed) door, we can see a rubber area that will prevent the device from slipping on the table. If any of you have read my last review about the VooPoo Doric Galaxy, you will know that I didn't like the fact that it didn't stand up, here you have a good example of how things are done.
We're really getting close to the end of the device inspection, and I've really enjoyed talking about this product, although I have some drawbacks that you'll see later.

Now let's talk about the cartridge. First, and something I really like about Vaporesso, is that they've created a cartridge with an interchangeable 510 drip tip. It's really rare to see how in pods this part can be exchanged, but they've done it. It's worth noting that devices like the Uwell Crown B or the VooPoo Drag H40 also have this, so they haven't invented the wheel, so to speak.

The charging port is located on the front, it has a large tab that we must open and turn slightly to insert our liquid. It's worth remembering that it accepts a maximum capacity of 5mL.

From the bottom is where we will insert the coil, we simply add a few drops to the cotton, insert it, fill it with liquid and wait about 5-10 minutes for it to be well soaked.

On the top we can see the adjustable air intake. I like that it has a limit and does not have a 360-degree turn. Vaporesso indicates 4 positions on it, presumably recommended, to leave the air intake. However, we can leave it wherever we want, as it doesn't click or anything like that, but it simply rotates.

Regarding the cartridge connection, I'll be very brief. It's achieved by two magnets on the bottom of the cartridge and two on the base of the mod. A slight rattling is noticeable, but it doesn't seem to be anything serious. Even so, if we take the device from the cartridge and shake it (not too hard), it detaches, something normal due to the weight of the pod itself and the battery, anyway, who on earth grabs a device like this by the cartridge right?

Vaping Time
Let's move on to the Vaping Time, where I must say beforehand that I was disappointed with one of the coils.

First, let's talk about the 0.15Ω coil. With it, I used the airflow fully open and a power of 45W, more than enough to move these coils with some ease and also, to extend their lifespan for extra time (since they should be used between 60-75W). However, this last objective was not met, as the same night, after having vaped with the device throughout the day, the coil already tasted burnt. It is possible that the coil was defective, or that the liquid was too sweet, in any case, I am not going to blame anyone but neither am I going to give my opinion about this coil (it has probably already been tested in another Vaporesso device, although it will differ slightly). Could I have done wrong by using it at a lower wattage than recommended? I really don't know, any help is well accepted.

Let's move on now to the 0.3Ω coil, with which I closed the airflow one notch and used a power of 35W, which is usual in the RDAs I use. With this one, the experience was another world, it provided very good flavor, really incredible vapor and is still alive today, after having tested it for 4 days with a sweet liquid.

As for the battery, what to say, it is the usual Vaporesso management. Around almost 200 puffs on a single charge, I must say that it is quite good considering that the charger marks a capacity of 2900mAh.

What to say about the feeling in hand, it is really very good. I must add that it is really a heavy device and even more so when we add the battery. However, this, at least for me, is not a problem.

Something that I love about the device is especially its aesthetics, it really makes me fall in love, in addition to the fact that the colors in which they sell it are quite good. Comparing it with the Armour G, it is the same device although that one brings a 3000mAh battery implemented. If anyone owns it, I would like to know what sensations it gives them, how many puffs a full charge lasts, for example.

Pros And Cons
Pros
Cons
Beautiful Device
Little Bit Too Heavy ( subjective )
Well Designed
Poor Leather Quality
Interchangeable Drip Tip
User Friendly
Customization

Conclusion
In summary, the new Armour GS is an incredible device. While the coil failed, it could be due to a specific defect in that coil, misuse of the device, or even the e-liquid used. But overall, this device is really good; it reminds me of a boosted Luxe XR Max, but with more power, greater battery life, and superior aesthetics.
