I always recommend buying authentic over a clone. You can get an Authentic RDA that is an affordable price that will be better than the clones IMO. The authentic TM rda is like $50 I think. What's your price range?

Both are excellent RDAs. However they also have their pros and cons. When you're planning on using a RDA for thick Fused Clapton coils, or such, you might be better off, getting the Twisted Messes. The two post design can have a problem with that, due to the screws. They might stick out too much, and could cause a short.

I have both RDAs as clones. The Velocity is made by Tobeco, not sure about the TW. However, both RDA clones are working just fine for me. The only thing about clones, they need a good cleaning OOB.

I can speak to the TM rda and say that the authentic is well worth the money. One of the reasons, which is easily overlooked though highly important, is that he sells spare decks and extra parts. Should you need a new set of screws or just want a second deck so you can have more than one build going, all of those things are available inexpensively on his website. It's just really nice to have the ongoing support-most companies don't care if you lose a post screw or a 510 pin. You're on your own. Kent (twistedmesses) gives you everything you need to keep your atty functioning. It's a killer device, well worth considering! Also having 3 drip tip options is great. The solid steel tip is awesome for being out and about since it screws into place doesn't come off. I do not own a velocity, but most people who have them like them a lot. I suppose that either way your decision will result in happiness haha.

when you choose rdas do you seem to go back to a particular one more than others?

I did see that option and I do plan on getting some fused claptons or cat tracks from a guy I know. not good at making them yet since I have no tools but I noticed the TM has huge holes. Its out of stock right now :/

I have currently 58 RDAs. All of them differ in their design in regards to the deck, and/or airflow.

Besides the colors, I doubt you can tell a difference.

Since I like the clone, I might get me the black & gold version myself.

First silver is a better conductor than gold or even copper. Second don't do a clone of TM, the original is cheap enough and I have seen clones cause dislike of this design. While it's a good top, it really shines as a coil building show piece. If I was to show what and how I build it would be on this deck.
The Velocity can't be compared to any other. It's deck isn't like any thing out there that's good. Good or bad all the open air between the coils makes even the worst coil wraps work. The authentic version is best but there is a clone that works just as good. I think its called Acerrig or something that you can use until your real one comes in or if you want to go out somewhere that it will be stolen, and believe me people will steal it. The clone comes in a round tin with a window on top the bad thing about it is it leaks at the post. The good thing is it isn't so tight that it shreds the O-rings like the others or has a non adjusting center post that really sucks to get clean properly.

I would go with the Velocity, at least as a first (getting a TM in the near future myself). I have had experience with both authentic and clone of both those RDAs, and have to say that for the price difference, there is little to no difference in quality or function of the clones (at least the clones from Tobeco). I have the Tobeco Velocity (SS, although a black one is available) clone and its a champ, machining quality is immaculate, came with extra parts and tools, no machine oil or metal shavings/burrs, perfect threads, and came with both short and long chuff caps. My buddy has a TM authentic and clone and its the same thing, like a perfect 1:1 clone in every aspect, except the interchangeable AFC rings, the clone is actually more customizable in that regard (has more color options). And a plus is that you can get either Tobeco clone for less than $30!!! I love authentic as much as the next guy, but all too often all you're really paying for is the name unfortunately. As for function, you can't go wrong with either of them, there's a reason for all the hype, this time the hype is legit!

Velocity clone by TOBECO is great. Got one recently and I love it. I have dual Claptons in it and it vapes oh so well with no leaking or spit back, plus its super easy to build on.
