Venom has shattered a North American box office record in October with an $80 million opening weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter. This effectively topples the previous October opening weekend record set by Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity when it earned $55.8 million in 2013.
Though Venom’s domestic haul is impressive, its $125.2 million earnings overseas during its opening weekend further bolsters its total opening weekend gross to $205.2 million, Variety reports.
