Vice Mayor defends right to vape

Vice Mayor demonstrates Electronic Cigarettes
I will begin by saying that most politicians these days really throw me for a loop. They back Big Tobacco which basically says lets have everyone continue to smoke while having adverse health effects, and a financial burden on the health care industry. Sounds good right? WRONG. Finally today as I was doing my daily readings of all the ecig news as I usually do I came across an article that might just have changed my mind. Today vice Mayor of La Mesa city council Kristine Alessio did something forthright and honest. She not only defended the right to vape, but demonstrated it to her fellow council. She asked a very important question, “has anyone on the staff ever tried electronic cigarettes”? As the mayor replied she pulled out an Ecig and began to vape. The mayor replied that there was to be no smoking and that it was prohibited in that area. Vive Mayor Allesio then replied “for demonstration purposes only”. The Mayor of La Mesa could not help but notice the overwhelming difference in the smell and smoke that came from the device versus traditional cigarettes. She went on to ask if they were going to ban nicotine chewing gum in all the public parks. Score one for the Vaping industry!!! This is great news to me because it’s just another example of the plain truth. Electronic cigarettes are a much healthier alternative to regular tobacco. If it is the peoples will to have something that they not only believe will help them quit cigarettes, but has a proven track record then let them have it. I just wish there were more politicians out there ready to see ecigs for what they are, and not as a doomsday device that will end the world. If politics would stay out of the medical world of ecigs and just look at the plain facts things would be great, but I just don’t see that happening anytime soon. The facts are this. As long as you have these billion dollar company’s in Washington throwing their money at Capitol Hill pushing for less regulation on traditional tobacco, and more regulation on ecigs then we have an uphill battle that will be really tough to beat. It seems though to me that we are slowly winning in the fight against the corporate ladder. In conclusion I would end by saying “give me liberty or give me death. It’s my choice and right to vape and for the time being I will continue to do so until I am forced to stop.
