Walmart has dropped a surprisingly brilliant Cyber Monday deal, and knocked $50 off the Switch 2's Mario Kart World Bundle. It's the first and only discount the Nintendo Switch 2 has had since it launched earlier this year.

At $449.99, the standalone MSRP for the Switch 2, Walmart is effectively offering Mario Kart World at no additional cost, rather than the modest $30 bundle saving originally signposted.

To access the offer, shoppers must be signed in to a Walmart account, a requirement tied to the console's high demand. Adding the bundle to the basket automatically applies the $50 reduction. If stock holds, buyers can choose home delivery or collect the console from a nearby Walmart store.

Walmart's deal will catch many off guard, including those of us who have spent months noting that Nintendo showed no inclination to cut prices this year. If anything, the company has hinted several times that its hardware could track Xbox and PlayStation by moving upward, not downward.

For now, this appears to be a limited, single day promotion, and stock is unlikely to last. It also lands at a curious moment, given that the Switch 2 recently cleared the 10 million unit mark, prompted Nintendo to lift its sales forecasts for the year, and continues to record the strongest console launch in the industry to date.

The Switch 2 has been among the most sought after products across Black Friday and Cyber sales, even in the absence of any meaningful discounts until now.
