Heres a quick simple tip shown on my busted "A" freakshow and a quick clapton i threw together. I will eventually put a more detailed and less half A'd version later but i felt like doing this right quick after a discussion with a friend at 3am so heres how i make mine:
after winding your wire or if you prepurchased it, torch it real good this helps keep the sheild stay put on the core View attachment 38742 also dont tug the wire as you wrap it. Roll it on your drill bit.
After you get your coil made carefully unwind some of the outer wire leaving bare legsView attachment 38743
When you match the rba/rda and the coil do not let the outer wire touch the posts

But keep it close and keep the legs even on both sides. For my clapton i also keep the gages far apart as i can. This is 36 wrapped around 28 to maximize surface area. The best ive made but was extremely hard to make was 40 on 25. The 40 is extremely delicate but it was worth it in the end. But back to it.... The coil does not need to be tuned for hot spots as long as you kept the legs in all the ways i said it will heat from the center out evenly with no spots. This is due to the outer wire acting as a heat transfer rather than a heat conducter. It distributes the heat of the core wire evenly.
