Give us an idea what kinds of flavors you like to vape or what vendor liquids you like.

If you still have hardware you like and good pg/vg/nic, you shouldn't have to order new supplies - except probably some flavorings.

Sorry to hear you had problems. There are many, very good recipes to be found here. What is your flavor profile, and maybe we can steer you towards a few good ones to get you started?

you're in luck ! only 765,345,856,456 more failures to go !!! lol here is the best advice I have buy a bunch of flavor art flavors and try them all single flavor and go into it it knowing you will not like all of them and likely wont be to strong or might end up overly strong. then start blending things that taste good to you.. blood orange and banana? cherry and cola ? oba oba and dark vapure lol who knows just let your taste guide you and forget about recipes for awhile :) might take months to make a good blend but Im guessing wont take more than a few weeks trying stuff everyday and remember you are trying something new. anyone can read about flying an airplane but you just cant hop in and go after googling a few things about it :)

For me finding @HeadInClouds recipes was a godsend. In the beginning I didn't know about HIC so I googled recipes & found some on Eliquid recipes they were meh. Then I found HIC, and after about a year, I found @Squonk recipes. There is a recipe thread here it's pretty good. Now @wllmc has recipes posted too.

I suggest find a recipe that sounds good to you & start from there.

Having friends you can make juice for can help keep you going as well. I'm pretty picky when it comes to eliquid so most recipes I don't like, which is discouraging. But I make a lot of different recipes for friends and they say they're better than any store bought juice they've had. Hearing that kept me going and made me realize my juice isn't bad, it just didn't fit me.

All of the advice is good. However, you should take a look at yourself as well. What are your expectations? What are your standards? Why did you quit so easily the other times? You wrote you tried one recipe your second time and just quit. What makes you think you won't quit so easily a third time. I work in academia and when I meet students who have to repeat a necessary course I always ask them what are they going to do differently the second time around. I point out that if they do the same things they did the first time and expect to succeed, then they've met Einstein's definition of insanity.

What are you going to do differently this time that will ensure you'll succeed? Be very specific and break things down into the smallest components possible.

I'm not giving you a hard time, I'm pointing out something necessary that no one else has.

Did you get your Real Flavors order yet?

I got them Monday. Unfortunately, I haven't got to play around with them yet.

Did you get yours?
Yes, Monday too. I mixed up the Cinnamon Roll at 5% since someone on the Real Flavors thread suggested 2.5-4% standalone. I tasted it was ok, but from what I read on the thread, they all need to seep. So I'll wait 2 weeks & try it again. I think I need to go to the thread & see what others are doing with the free ones.

I've only been mixing for a couple months. My advice is don't give up. I've mixed a lot of different recipies. Some have been failures:blech:, some have been ok (vapeable), but only one has been amazing:D. It's a learning experience. The failures have shown me what flavors don't go together. The ones that are ok, I usually adjust percentages, or try to figure out what's missing. I have one recipe I'm working on, that's at version #8 (and it's almost where I want it).

Also, some flavors just need time to steep. I haven't tried any tobacco flavors, but from what I read, they all need 2-4 weeks before they are good. I prefer fruit and candy flavors and I'm very picky. Which is why I started diy.

Think of it like cooking. Some recipes you like, some you don't and some don't turn out like you expected. You can always scrap the recipe, or adjust it to you personal tastes.

There are a lot of different flavorings out there. And each one is different, including the same flavor in different brands. Buy small amounts to start with. Once you find a flavor and brand you like, then buy larger quantities as needed.

Mixing is like any new skill, it takes time to learn. However, the master mixers here have some great recipies to get you started! And unlike store bought juice, you can adjust the flavor to your personal tastes.

I've been struggling too. I agree with one of the above comments, try single flavors. You can get 10ML bottles of concentrate for like $1.29. Make the single flavors that you probably will like in small batches. After you know what you like try simple blends. Everyone goes in with high hopes but theres a learning curve.

The thing about freinds is true too. Between my brother and I, we know alot of broke people that vape. $23 for a little 30ml bottle of juice is an outrage. People really appreciate what I'm doing. Stuff I'd throw away is given and appreciated.

My goal is to get good at this and have a top 5 of really good flavors. Right now I got a top 3 of just okay ones lol. I know it will take time and practice.

Someone told me he got Flavorwest Strawberry Lemonade, Dutch Apple Pie, Pralines & Cream, Big Stick Popsicle & they are great mixed standalone at 12%. As a matter of fact he said next time he'll mix at 10% cos on a rda the flavor is intense. I haven't tried yet. But sounds promising.

I go along with @wllmc and @bobnat -- the only thing you can do is keep trying, but try *differently*. I've never been pleased with the results from following other peoples' recipes either -- then I figured out, I need a lot more flavoring than most folks. So I read about a gajillion strawberry & cream recipes, to get a good idea of ratios, and created my own -- using INW shisha strawberry, which most folks use at 2%-5% -- I started out at 16%, and about 15% background supporting flavors -- and it turned out GREAT! It's been my ADV since Dec 2014; as my tastebuds have finally started waking from their coma, I've managed to get the shisha strawberry down to 14.4%, and the supporting flavors down too, keeping my ratios more or less intact, and it's still good, and still a lot more flavoring than most like -- but I'm not making it for THEM, I'm making it for ME, and *I* like it!

Use recipes only as a guideline -- but make ejuice to suit YOURSELF, and hang what anyone else thinks about it! And keep trying -- no one ever succeeded by giving up.

I just got into DIY myself with the mindset that as a Noob I most likely would create a lot of Turds before i could constantly create really good flavors.

You might want to consider getting HIC's recipees from here.

I've recently got into DIY myself. still struggling but still learning. I was just like you and wanted to give up.
Problem was I blindly followed everyone's taste and bought a bunch of concentrates to make loads of HIC's recipes.
Unfortunately for me they sucked. I couldn't taste what others were describing and I couldn't understand why.
I wanted to throw in the towel and give up.
What was i doing wrong? nothing. My friends tried them and loved every single one of them. So jealous!.
As AndriaD stated. Everyone has different taste buds.

So I did research and found clones of store bought juices I like.

Naked 100 Lava Flow
INTERNAL LEAK OF CUTWOOK UNICORN MILK

Made them myself and loved it! That's when I knew I can actually do it right.
I have to accept that i'm still new to this and can't be just throwing in any flavour and expect crazy results.

Right now I look for base recipes that i enjoy and tweak my own flavours into it.
For example that unicorn milk is tasty as hell but does get boring because everything is strawberry.
So the plan is to make a bunch of 10mls replacing the strawberry with Banana? Blueberry? Honeydew?

A few tips that i overlooked when i started.

  • Get yourself a scale. It's so much easier and cleaner than using syringes.
  • Shake everything. Shake the concentrates before adding to your juice. Shake the nic then shake the hell out of your completed bottle.
  • 5ml. Although the smallest bottles are 10ml. You dont have to make all 10ml. I felt like i wasted a lot at the start with rubbish recipes. Make only half the bottle to save. I'ts also easier to shake ;)
  • Purchase an RDA. I bought one just so i could taste my juices but i've never looked back at my tank since.

I've been DIY for about a year and a half..and I have never mixed somebody else's recepies.....I had a pretty clear idea of what I like and I've just worked on trying to mix for my own palatte...and the things I like don't seem to be following the direction of the trends of most e-juice......try other people's recepies that sound inviting, but don't doubt your own instincts.
