I hear ya Roger. This kind of thing does happen with a lot of other products too. People focus on one aspect of something, think that's the most important thing and the marketing people get on the bandwagon. Gigahertz for computers, HP for cars, megapixels for cameras, etc.

IMO if more people did the research needed to really understand the intricacies of these machines they would see through the marketing hype. But it is what it is.

I remember when I was building PC's getting the first 200gb hard drive from Dell . Now we have solid state drives. When will something like that happen for electronic cigarettes?/ Will it have to wait /be new battery technology? Maybe a safe controlled way to Vaporize E Liquid beside wick and wire.

And megapixels without a good sensor is not the greatest.

I see what you're saying, but on the other hand, if I knew how to make a device that was 50 watts higher than everything else on the market and I knew it would make me a million dollars, I would probably make it.
Rumor has it, evolve is working on something that regulates heat rather than wattage. Also, people are working on induction heating methods, which seem pretty interesting. I think true innovations take time, especially in such a new industry.

Hi again Bluraff3,

...been following that thread...

Oh, then i hope i didn't make that sound as if it were some personal blame, because this ain't my intention of course! :)

...but not contributing (I don't have the background...

This sure may feel intimidating, which is one thing i didn't appreciate while reading about the "grace" of having them around with Albert Einstein holding a piece of carved wood as their final touch! Since we can't get numbers from Evoke i found more rational examination would have to do, at least i believe i managed to demonstrate there may be more clues out there, waiting...

Very informative.

Thanks, it's a pleasure. In any case my hope is that the VU members with true 1st-hand experience would be capable/willing to take over and improve on that modest approach of mine: because i came here in search for such potential resources, actually.

Good day, have fun! :D

I have been following the "Evoke" story for quite a while now.

Seems they got an influx of cash from crowd funding.

Keep in mind, I would be way, way happy if I am wrong.

But I have a suspicion that the Evoke team got their bar tab funded.

For quite a while.

We see some fancy picks of what reminds me of a good old fashioned wood pipe (mine back in the day never saw so much as a single tobacco leaf), and some mock up experiments.

And whats that about 1.5ml capsules?

Gota go now. Time for more meds.

Salutations UncleRJ,

I have been following the "Evoke" story for quite a while now.

Although i have no memories remaining of their previous failed campaign it appears that i was ~3 weeks late after this subject came to my attention (elsewhere) again, then i was contacted privately and this would correspond to a period when i started being suspicious enough to put Loto Labs on my ignore list, more or less... To top it all the sustained refusal to discuss openly while jumping around from one board to the next suggested i don't want to register anywhere Loto Labs has actually requested/obtained moderator privileges.

Anyway lets just say after waiting for some 8 months i simply couldn't expect such a failed "demonstration":

(Euh... Proof-of-combustion perhaps?!...)

It was a shocking sight while others appeared to be satisfied, as i recall, euh...

Seems they got an influx of cash from crowd funding.

Indeed! Well, my personal impression was that controversy must have fuelled the enthousiasm of those who were about to get involved financially... Perhaps my perspective is wrong, yet i've always felt there was no plan with real solutions as a solid foundation - but i can't reject the possibility it was done in good faith, while if it was then such support would only seem even more surprizing (read "irrational") to me!!

o_O

...I would be way, way happy if I am wrong.

For all i know the Evoke project is synonymous of having a lapse of faith so far and hence they completely lost me early along their path, because of the stirred mystery and so on. Shouldn't bold claims require equally challenging/obvious proofs-of-concept?? Go figure! For all i know it may be reserved to Evoke's own subscribing bloggers.

Still i'd like my instinct to be proven wrong too and as a matter of fact it would be great should this mediatic operation cause other manufacturers to join the IH wave! Then my apprehensions resurface once more: i yet have to see any garantee that a "smart" (software-encrypted) Evoke won't just happen to work much like a "locked" portable phone, no matter the BlueTooth bonus, etc.

But I have a suspicion that the Evoke team got their bar tab funded. For quite a while.

How long it will last could depend how many persons get hired in the process... No later than last September 14 i was reading about Kevin Lin (aka Twitch) who probably became "advisor" thanks to his brother James, Vice-President of Information Technology... Well, i don't know if/when that's going to transpire on the Loto Labs web site but i find ironic that i did actually foresee this eventuality coming somehow:

UV: Game Changer? Evoke, the 1st induction powered vaporizer (2014-Oct-4)

« Maybe it's only meant to provide jobs, while waiting for better days. »

Now i must confess i'm clueless as to how bad or good this really is but it's been mentioned, out there, nonetheless...

We see some fancy picks of what reminds me of a good old fashioned wood pipe (mine back in the day never saw so much as a single tobacco leaf), and some mock up experiments.

It's been a long while since i combusted tobacco; this didn't stop me from putting some fair amounts of time & energy on some IH-compatible pipe layout that also offers support for butane fire, only to find it's of no value mostly anywhere i went, including in presence of the Evoke team of course.

Yet the thing is old farts like me used to appreciate using fire for decades, Induction Heating would open the door to quality though i wish their pipe could work with a butane torch too. For those times whenever that may feel comforting and/or convenient.

And whats that about 1.5ml capsules?

That information was found in related article copies (there's been so many posted it should come up pronto!), so lets try it:

More precisely i think my source was some bookstore at the time; but the web is in a state of constant change so it may have disapeared in archives meanwhile, etc... That's all i know and such news don't reach me often these days - i'd favour numbers released directly by Loto Labs, naturally.

Gota go...

Then have a nice evening/night!

Good day, have fun!! ;)
