Series creator Shawn Simmons (School of Rock), along with Deadpool screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are bringing a gritty new dark comedy to YouTube Premium on January 16, titled Wayne.
According to YouTube, "When the titular teenage renegade’s 1978 Pontiac Trans Am is stolen from his father on his deathbed, 'Wayne' sets out with nothing but a dirt bike and his new crush Del to take back his rightful inheritance." Mark McKenna, who is best known for his performance in the Golden Globe-nominated Irish film, Sing Street, will star alongside Ciara Bravo, who plays Del. The streaming provider calls Wayne a "16-year-old Dirty Harry with a heart of gold," but the series also resembles Netflix's End of the F***ing World, which IGN calls a Bonnie and Clyde for a new generation in our review.
