We Are Robin by writer Lee Bermejo and artists Jorge Corona, Rob Haynes, and Khary Randolph is one of the two dozen new DC Comics series to launch in June, telling the story of Duke Thomas. Duke has crossed paths with Batman in the past, and with his parents missing after the Joker's gas-attack in Endgame, he's practically an orphan, which leads to him trying to survive the rough streets of Gotham City. It's not long before he encounters other Gotham youths and together they put on Robin's iconic yellow, green and red colors to fight crime together.
With the first issue of We Are Robin hitting last week, we hopped on the phone with Bermejo to talk about how he turned Batman's sidekick into a fully-fledged street gang movement. It's also worth noting that while the book was originally called "We Are... Robin," Bermejo clarified that the ellipsis was removed, so it's now just "We Are Robin."
