OK, I started off with a Trident V2 as my first RDA, since then I have gotten several other RDA's most I haven't had an issue with.

I bought a cheap clone Trident V2 over a year ago and never could get the weird flavor to leave it no matter what I tried so I walked it to the garbage can and in it went, since then I have purchased authentic RDA's and one Cigreen Quasar clone and never had an issue with flavor being affected by the RDA.

Recently I purchased another Trident V2 and Yes it was a Fleebay item but the seller had great feedback so I went for it (I want to use it for testing flavor when working on DIY juice) so I bought what was suppose to be a Infinite clone (it did come in a plastic bag with the Infinite logo) which is suppose to have a good reputation and again the same problem with what I believe to be machine oil from the manufacturing of the RDA. In the past I tried washing it, soaking it in VG for over a day, I used 90% alcohol and so on blah blah blah to get the flavor out and all I can think is maybe this clone isn't Infinite or I am just having bad luck with the Trident's.

Has anyone else run into this with a RDA/RTA and been able to get it to act right later? All I can come up with at this time is maybe it wasn't a Infinite and it's not a quality SS so it is throwing bad flavor. Your thoughts?

I am thinking either the center pin has some oddball insulation of the O rings are heating and creating a nasty... Is the deck plated when something? Painted?

No the deck is clean, it tastes just like a machine oil (Have worked around enough of it to know exactly what it tastes like) I got an extra set of O-Rings with this RDA and haven't changed them yet, so I will try that and see if maybe they are giving off the strange flavor. I know on the one I threw away I had changed them and it didn't help. Thanks for the tip.

Put it in a dishwasher for a cycle. If that doesn't work, it may just be the natural taste of the mystery metal...

I had that happen to Me a few times.
With the Veritas it was the positive pin insulator melting. With an old patriot, I totally disassembled the atty, screws from posts, positive pin, o-rings -everything
And soaked it in a solution of: Warm water, dawn and vinegar for a few hours. Then scrubbed it and its parts with a toothbrush followed by a warm water rinse.
It sucked but it worked.

Looks like we may have success on this one, will have to give it time to set and see if the weird flavor tries to creep back in. I took the old O-Ring off and gave it a bath in alcohol again then rinsed it really well, then gave it a ultra sonic Dawn dish washing detergent wash, once everything was rinsed really well and dried off I put a new O-Ring on it and put a coil and wick on it, juiced it up and hit it. Nothing but pure clean juice flavor so far. Have my fingers crossed and hopefully it will stay this way. Thanks all.
