Went into a vape shop for the first time today...

So ever since I started vaping I've gotten my stuff online. I never bothered going into a store because I assumed stores were much more expensive than online (and I don't like socializing).

I have to say it was a decent experience. They didn't carry the part I wanted, but I decided to look at some juice. To my surprise, they have every juice each in a tank ready to try. I really liked one called "Capone" and got a bottle.

One odd thing is that they have 17ml and 34 ml bottles... Why not 15 and 30 like every place I've seen online? I'm starting to feel like I got screwed over because I got 17 ml for 10 bucks (I usually get 15ml for 7.45$ at MFS and some juice for even less than that at Mt Baker), and their 17 ml bottle is the exact same size as my 15ml MFS bottles. Same thickness of plastic too.

What do you think? Did they add 3ml to the label and lie?

Most if not all vape shops mark up items. This is common practice because they have to keep their shops open. They get their product for a cheaper price and maybe mark it up 10% or so to make profit for general upkeep and also for oder in more stuff for their shop. As for the odd ml bottles that I don't know of. I've seen some weird ones online as of recent but I wouldn't get too alarmed over it....at least I don't think...maybe someone else can chime in with something I missed

Nope you did not get screwed! B&M prices are always higher, and even online Top Shelf juice cost around $22 a 30 ml

I've bought empty bottles from several places. All will hold more than they are said to be. 15ml will hold 17ml if filled to top, 5ml will hold 7ml, etc. I always fill to top which takes more juice. Juice is cheap, people like full bottles.

Got to watch out for overfill especially with drippers. I've had some major mishaps with overfill lol

What Marcus said. I buy empty bottles frequently. They're over-sized, which is nice for shaking a mix. Unless, of course, if it's full.

Most are, but I've got some that are true to size in the last batch and I'm getting heckled because my old ones ended up 2-4 ml bigger than stated. Of course, no one liked the old bottles because the caps didn't affix very well...

One day I went to a B&M and I bought a "premium" bottle of juice a 30 mL bottle for like $22-$25 I went home and I immediately emptied the bottle into one of my 30 mL bottles and let me tell you, I was pissed. The amount in the bottle WAS NOT 30 mL is was more like 20 something. I went back to this B&M and let them know. They asked me how I knew it was not a 30 mL bottle so I pulled out my syringe and began showing them. Yeah, needless to say not only do I question some of the bottles that are being used and passed off as "premium" bottles and "premium" juices but I certainly do not feel like this sleight of hand deserves my hard earned monies.

Not only can I make my own "premium" juice but I can use my own bottle and get the exact amount that I intend to make.

I find the glass eyedroppers drastically affect the amount of liquid that actually fits in a 30 ml bottle - learned that the hard way mixing for my wife, who prefers glass...I can get maybe 25 ml into her 30 ml bottles. Maybe.

Perhaps with large pre-mixed batches they can fill the dropper (which itself holds 1-1.5 ml not counting the volume of the glass tube that's displaced and thus unavailable for liquid) to partially offset this, but I don't want to suck up any liquid that hasn't been mixed, as it could end up all flavor or all VG...or worse, all nic base.

This was not one of the normal rounded bottles.
This was one of these fancy looking rectangular bottles.
It had this thick glass and reminds me of like a cologne bottle.
As I examined the bottle more, I noticed that there was this space between the bottom and the portion that was actually filled with liquid.
The way the glass was blown it made it look like it was deeper than it really was.
Was a lesson learned nonetheless.

@j3rian - those square bottles have a hump of extra glass at the bottom that further diminishes capacity, I've found. IMHO glass is largely hype for ready-to-vape liquids, it's primarily valuable for volatile flavor concentrates. There are certainly those who disagree with me, but nine of ten times when I ask most people don't want to pay an extra dollar or lose a few ml of liquid to go from LDPE to glass...

I got my first glass bottle recently, not really impressed. Seems to me I lose giant drops of liquid from the dropper as I'm trying to get it to my tank, just takes longer to fill it up too. I'll probably transfer it to a plastic bottle I have laying around.

Best mistake I ever made was ordering a couple bottles with regular ol' screw on (closed, no dropper) lids. When I got the box in the mail and opened them up, believe me it was a facepalm kind of moment.

Til I figured out that I can use that cap to properly mix up the batch before adding a dropper top. Now I can make larger batches, have closed lids on all except what I'm currently vaping (y'know, for the steepin' action) and I never have to worry about getting a dropper full of straight flavorings, or nic, like you said. Anywho, just two cents to toss into the pot.

Save all your empty juice bottles and tell your friends to give you theirs. Especially the glass ones because any flavor can be completely removed with a simple soap and water cleaning. That way when you start DIY'ing you don't have to buy as many bottles. Seriously though, I couldn't afford to vape the way I currently do if I hadn't started mixing my own.

Same here, I couldn't afford to vape if I bought premium juices. I make my own, and they taste lovely to me and my fiancee, and one of my friends who I got vaping likes them, so they're good enough to vape, and taste of what they are supposed to, thats what matters most to me, the taste, although I do do 70/30 for the clouds

I've seen some places charge $13 for 15 ml and $22.50 for a 30ml of store brand juice not even top shelf

Regarding bottles - the regular plastic ones (either clear/hard or translucent/soft) are designed to hold 'X' mls when filled to the shoulder of the bottle. Many people don't realize that. We always overfill our bottles to the top because - as a previous poster mentioned - people like to see full bottles and might feel they're being gypped otherwise. But we don't advertise our 10ml bottles as 12 or 13mls. And I've also seen those glass bottles someone mentioned. The ones I saw were 15ml but looked huge by comparison to regular bottles. And, yes, they had very thick glass and that extra glass at the bottom.
